Fully agree with your assessment, as a backup PG, he'd be better off in LA as Nash's understudy. As a Rox, he under the tutelage of noBody, that's for sure. From the box score of last night's SAS vs LAL, both Nash and Blake needed help. Plus he would reunite with His fav coach and system. Here's hoping!

exactly. it's called picking your spots to dominate all the greats did it. Harden can do it. When we blew the game open in the first 21 minutes of play, harden's shots were coming from the ball moving. not having to massage the ball all throughout the game is the best thing for harden's efficiency.

I'm hoping Casspi is ok, but the missing takeaway here is that we potentially lost a 20min/game guy for a few games in our weakest spot. That's not good for the 4 in 5 we are just starting here.

A short term problem, but this is an instant gratification world and I want to win today.

On the other hand, we did win the game. So that's good.

Damn good game last night. For a minute there I thought it was going to be a blowout, but the Mav's made their little runs.

We have to cut down on them turnovers.

Exactly. It makes the offense less predictable. I love the defense and the ball movement at 1st half. Simply the team ball at the best. Hope this can become more consistent.

Btw, I am tired of all these name calling, e.g. LOF, LOH, ROH. Be positive. Enjoy the win.

Ball movement was a lot better last night.

Im glad that Dallas threw that zone D out, that way Rockets learn from it early on. They stuttered at bit but they got it going. When everything started to fail they implemented HAH.

When the TTs aren't out there, Rockets were running and are at heir best. Not saying TTs isnt good but it also has their advantages. Just needs to have more time to develop.

This whole team needs to practice their free throws. For the exception of a few. Dwight started bending at the legs and suddenly started making his FTs. Then he goes back to bending them but straightens out completely, waits a split second and releases. No no no. Bend straighten out and shoot at the same time.

Parsons has been off and the Rockets cant afford that. Good thing its the beginning of the season.

Turnovers ... have to be cut down. Way too many. If they focus on not turning it over at least by 25-40% Rockets will have that much easier of a win.

The bench clearly needs to work on defense. Last 2-3 minutes, Dallas was making it seem easy by getting at the 3. Must work out that D, but it can also be attributed to the fact hey haven't had their turns at full speed games against opponents.

Asik and Howard need to stay out of foul trouble tonight against the Jazz. Both Favors and Kanter are averaging double doubles...Lin needs to handle Lucas III cause the height difference is at Lin's advantage. Parsons need to have a big game cause I don't think Jefferson nor Hayward can hold him

Houston attempted 51 free throws in part because the Mavericks employed a Hack-a-Howard approach in the third quarter. Howard went to the line 10 times in that quarter alone.

I can not stand that weak a** Hack-a -Player BS. That is the weakest sh** ive seen in basketball. I know some would argue that its a great strategy and all.

Howard and Asik will need to make these teams pay when they pull this desperate sh**.

Plus you have two play makers to start the game. Also they already built chemistry together (Harden, Lin, Parson, & Asik). But hey Coach wants to do things differently.

It's a two-way street. I remember times last year when people were calling for Machado and TD to start. I remember when Beverley would put up 0 points in a game, yet people would say that that was good enough for him to start over Lin, who by then was reliably scoring double digits and getting 5-6 dimes every game. I remember when someone said that he felt he could take Lin 1-on-1 in a rec gym. I remember how the same people who cried "sample size!" when Lin was first (re-)signed by the Rockets suddenly forgot about those standards after seeing TD or Beverley play a decent 15 minutes against the opposing bench.

So a few of Lin's fans are extremely distrusting of any criticism that comes his way.

That was a frustrating game to watch, but we should all be glad we won it in the end.

Our first look at Hack a Howard. It was interesting to see the crowd get fired up and behind Dwight (when there was very little else to cheer about) as he started hitting his free throws. I can only imagine the mental toll it would take on him if this were an away game... I hope this is the place and the season for him to finally figure out how to get over HaH.

The 3rd quarter especially was excruciating. One foul after another, violations, strange calls, it just totally disrupted the flow of our offense. As another poster mentioned, it was nice to get an early test of the zone defense though. As I was watching the Rockets offense screech to a halt, I had to continue to remind myself that we were up 10+. The team remained composed, Harden stepped up when he had to, and HaH ultimately failed. We weren't able to effectively counter everything Rick Carlisle's threw at us, but we weathered the storm and that's what matters.

As much as I miss Delfino's off-the-bench power, I think we'll be just fine with Cassipi and Garcia. Also, can't wait until Beverly's return.

I was scared in the closing minutes, but I actually liked McHale's trust in his bench guys. That's what they're there for. That's what they've been practicing for. Good call to rest his rotation players on the first of a back-to-back. By the way, anyone know if Cassipi's sprained ankle was anything serious?

Next up: Utah. Will it be the TT and our bigs that dominate the paint, our running game to dictate the pace of the game, or dare I say a combination of both? I'm still waiting for our first feel-good, break-out game of the regular season.

You have to distinguish between the "troller going to troll" post and the fair criticism, though. Last year was about his passiveness, poor shooting and TO (during the first half of the season, when his knee wasn't fully recovered). Those are legitimate concerns that eventually became non-issue after the AllStar break, minus the TO.

It will be the same this season, as long as he plays aggressively and learns how to control his tempo, therefore cutting down unnecessary TO, and maintains good shooting %, then the criticism will be less. Except, of course, the trollers.
