Didn't think this warranted a new thread, but for those interested here are the PER player ratings for all Rockets players who played at least 80 minutes this preseason:

What is there to dream about? More like a nightmare. A T-Mac coming off of microfracture surgery basically cancels out Jermaine O'Neal at this point. Both talent-wise and contractually since they have identical contracts. That leaves essentially Brooks and Scola for Beasley, which, even on NBA 2K10 is probably still a horrific proposition. I mean, one of those players just checked out of rehab and it certainly wasn't any of our guys. Beasley may eventually get it together but it's impossible to ignore his current situation and the parallels to Eddie Griffin's career. For now, he's somebody else's problem and I'd like to keep it that way.

Seeing Dejuan Blair dominate for the rest of his career is really going to be painful...

You can predict that from preseason. Well, you are gifted as a seer.

Aaron Brooks and Luis Scola for Beasley would be a complete steal.

    He is 21.

He averaged 14 points and 5 rebounds last year in 25 minutes a game.

He shot 47% from the field, 40% from 3, And nearly 80% from the line.

He will be an all-star, and he has superstar potential.

All this for a second rate, back-up PG, and a solid (aging) starting PF (that I would hate to lose), it is a deal you would HAVE to accept. In fact, I bet Pat Riley would have a hard time accepting it.

You severely underrate Beasley as a basketball player. Compared to Scola and Brooks, he is naturally on another level. I would take a risk on a young, troubled star for V-Span and a late draft pick...

And an impressionable kid, who has the tools to become a superstar.

He is 21 folks, have him carry Battier's bags for a while and he will be good to go.

Clearly he's a strong player inside. Can he do it consistently and without major injuries?

Good question. I would never pay him very much money because of the knees, but I would not mind having him on his rookie contract. He is pissed, and is going to try and prove everyone wrong. Scary...

If you're dead serious the bolded quote is sig worthy material considering Beasley's maturity and focus issues could potentially bounce him right out of this league. Look, I don't care where he was drafted. Being drafted that high doesn't guarantee success (see the #2 pick of this past draft). We all know he can score but he has no concept of defense at all and he has literally nothing between the ears. Assuming that just because he was drafted high that he's going to be some megastar is really quite foolish whenever the evidence right in front of you points to the contrary. Right now Beasley is the second coming of Mo Taylor. In other words: good player but not much to see here. We'll see how he fares 2-3 years down the line. Right now he's not better than either Scola or Brooks which makes the idea of forking over both of them for him to be really quite unconscionable.

Dejun Blair may end up starting on the championship team this year.

...Of course, one of the reasons that everyone understands that Morey is the second coming of Jesus is that he turned V-Span and a late draft pick into Luis and Brooks. And trading both of them? For Michael Beasley? Good god, at least the Battier-for-Jackson idiots can say that Jackson played a role on a championship team.

My stance has been the same in regards to brooks and lowry. Lowry needs play finishers.Brooks can do both but is better suited if other guy can get their own shot. Lowry is better when he has the ball in his hands and can make decisions with the ball. If he were on a team like philly, phoenix,ny, people could realy see his value.

A pg under adelman has to be in the part time pg/scoring lead guard mold which is what brooks is. The motion and flow is the pg similar to the triangle in la. That's why most pg's under adelman are 5 asst guys. Also, as evident by last yrs playoffs, brooks can takeover games. I think this is the last yr the rockets will have both. Lowry and brooks are young enough and good enouh to start on their own team. Someone will offer a trade this season for lowry or offer him a good enough deal in the offseason the rox can't/won't match.

Yes, we control them for 5 years on a rookie contract.
