The Rockets this preseason is fun to watch when their fast break and offense is going, but when it bongs down, dang its hard to watch. I think Trevor is hurting the Rockets more then he is helping, by trying to create his own shot, trying to be a playmaker, when everybody knows those aren't in his game.

It is very easy for Brooks to lose confidence. That's not a good sign.

Without a doubt, Lowry is tougher!

We still lack someone who can take the game by the scruff of the neck .....hopefully once tracy rturns, that wont be an issue, bt till then we need someone to stepup.

He's trying to do too much. New team, new contract, and with all the injuries on the team -- its understandable. He needs to relax and let the game come to him. He's going to be an important piece but we didn't sign him to be the savior. I hope that someone talks to him about this.

Lowry played great some and lousy some tonight...lots of turnovers...and lots of assists.

Brooks was pretty bad in his shooting but we need 2 penetrating players out there to close games....especially when Dallas had 2 small guards out there anyway.

Oh well, maybe Rick wanted to see what Lowry could do....late in the game he threw one away and jacked up a 25 foot airball.

Lowry's game tonight was a mixed bag for me.

    Oh....and we only scored 38 points in the 2nd half...YUCK !

Lowry was incredible. You're nitpicking. He was probably the biggest reason the Mavericks didn't pull away. He's a force on both ends of the court.

Brooks was horrible. I would be shocked if Lowry isn't starting by the 2nd month of the season. Not just because of this game, either. Lowry is just entirely a better PG and basketball player.

Better PG? By far, no question. Better ball player? I don't know, I want to believe that Aaron has a higher ceiling and that Lowry has pretty much maximized what he's capable (although he could improve his shot). I still think Brooks is more talented.

It's a damn shame the kid can't shoot. Lowry is really good. 23, is he?

Lowry's a year younger than Brooks.

I'd rather my PG have 9 assists, 4 steals, and 3 turnovers, then 1 assist, 1 steal, and 2 turnovers.

Both are great. Both have potential.. but the difference is that Lowry is more suited for the Rockets team of the future.
I keep hearing "when Yao comes back.. blah blah", which makes me assume that Yao will be resigned. I also think that if McGrady isn't resigned, another talented 1st/2nd option wing player will be added. Either way, Lowry will fit in more with our future lineup due to the fact that he defers more and plays more naturally as a PG. I also think that he's much more composed than Brooks and has a lot of the same skills, BESIDES shooting, that Brooks possesses. I expect our future started lineup to be stacked offensively, which Brooks would only disrupt. I'm a believer in balance, which is why I love Battier. You can't have too much offense in one lineup.. "There's only one ball to go around".
Brooks, on the other hand, would be an amazing sixth man. He excels offensively and kind of reminds me of Bobby Jackson type player, except I think Brooks could be a lot better.

Lowry is not suited to play with Yao, Brooks is.......

The Rockets need a PG that can shoot and space the floor, Lowry is a great backup PG.

But if he started, teams would start leaving him open and he is not a good enough shooter to make him pay.

Brooks is the starter, Lowry will play a lot too, we are lucky to have them both.

I would rather the team win.

I saw Lowry jumping into people and making some questionable decisions....he is a bull dog, but I am not going to jump the gun on one meaningless preseason game.

If you want stats, go look up Lowry's in the playoffs last year.

    That's an exaggeration.

Lowry is more PG oriented with much better defensive capabilities, but statistically his assist numbers are not that much better than Brooks in a game. Lowry averages around 3.5 assist in his four years of NBA, Brooks averaged 3 assist in his second year. Brooks also shoots a higher FT percentage and averages a higher PPG in his second season than all 4 of Lowry's NBA regular season games.

Lowry and Brooks are a combination we need against different teams. There is no way in hell for Lowry to have averaged 16 points per game against the Lakers in playoffs, but at the same time there is no way we can expect to stop the likes of Rose and Williams with Brooks.

    You're right.
Hopefully he can develop a consistent shot.
Both are great, but I really hope that one doesn't decide to bail because he thinks he deserves a starting spot.
I'm mainly talking about Lowry... I believe this is a contract year for him :(

It seemed to me that Lowry ran out of gas at the end. He wasnt being aggresive in the final minutes.

There were 2 stretches that killed the Rockets. First was the beginning of the second half where the starters just stunk and the second was a stretch later on where the Rockets kept taking jumpers rather than attack the basket.

And btw, they should have posted up Pops a few times in the fourth but they kept going to Landry exclusively.

I think alot of the problems in the game was no-one knew what was going to be called a foul and what wasn't a foul. The Mavericks were practially on top of the Rockets and no foul, and yet a Rocket look wrong at a Mav and it was a foul. Never thought I would miss the regular refs so much. Another thing is I personally think Chuck should have been in during the 4th quarter, to at least get some rebounds or something. I wonder why he didn't play him. Also a few pages back someone metioned a Deke commerical, is it posted on youtube or something, I was at the game and want to see it later.
