I don't care how many minutes anyone plays, and I just want Lin to play the way the coach needs him to play in order for the team to win.

Just curious.....I vaguely remember watching till the end and we seemed to have more points than the other team. Is this a bad thing, like in golf?

People needs to relax and save their opinions/expertise/self-ego until season starts. These are PRE-SEASON games where we are trying new things for each game. So far our players have played very well under difficult situations, learning new schemes/spacing/responsibilities. Players themselves are bonding and playing well with each other. Yet, it's the fans who are bickering, b****ing, and moaning every night. Last year it was about HOF vs LOF. This year it's gonna be BOF vs LOF. I understand fans are emotional, but it's getting ridiculous.

That's the spirit. Can't wait to read your "unbiased" commentary in the future.

Actually I'm pretty unbiased. I want both Lin and the team to succeed. I don't care if he starts or not, but I do want him to succeed. Bev played well last night - can't argue that and Lin let his man beat him too many times. He was able to get his assists in though and still contribute.

How did Harden end up with 7 TOs? Bad passes or bad catches?

Truth be told, Lin never "cooked" Jose, aside from that famous last shot to win the game. Jose always played well against Lin. For some reason, fundamentally sound, taller PGs seem to give Lin more trouble than flashy PGs. How tall is Jose?

He made at least 2 bad passes to the post that were tipped out by Dalembert. He's definitely got work to do passing to the post.

I think 6'3. Well the wording I used is not correct, but he wants to get Lin back for that last shot. But you are right, Jose always played well against him now that I recall previous matches. Lin always seems to get destroyed by screens, and it late to get back on his man I noticed. It seemed that way last year too.

How did this thread become focusing on Lin again? Should it be centered on how the twin towers worked?

The whole team didn't work so well last night. Maybe it is because the lineup is new? Maybe try is at least one more time? Ask the coach what is the ideal situation he expected? Maybe the coaching resposibility is more important here? I don't think either Lin or Beverley are making the twin tower work or not wort, although Lin has shown his passing ability more.

It's by design. The reason the Rockets don't take many pull up 2's is because only a handful of guys in the league can make them at 45% or better over time.

    3. Lin will be able to score more during the regular season with more minutes ESPECIALLY playing alongside Beverley when Harden goes to the bench or moves to the SF spot.

Lets not forget that its the preseason and the starters are really only playing 2 quarters at best. I'm not worried about Lin getting looks offensively. I expect that he will be #3 on the team in offensive usage if not for sure #4 behind maybe Parsons.

    1. Why do they need more mid-range? Other than variety I don't see what purpose it solves. You get more spacing for drivers when you space to the three point line, and Harden/Lin are two of the best attacking guards in the league... why would one guy want to make life harder on the other guy?

If you can provide spacing and scoring from the 3 point line with Harden/Garcia/Casspi/Parsons/Lin etc. why wouldn't you prefer THREE points instead of TWO when you're shooting nearly THE SAME PERCENTAGE.

    2. I agree with Calvin Murphy if he's talking about players that aren't skilled 3 point shooters(like most bigs), but we are talking about the modern NBA basketball. Players practice 3's more than any other shot on the court from a very young age.

I agree that Lin might be a better natural shooter from inside the arc just like someone like Tony Parker or Russell Westbrook, but that doesn't mean ALL players are better from 18 feet than from somewhere like the corner 3.

In theory, yes, you should shoot a higher percentage the closer you are to the bucket, but if you have guys on the floor that can shoot the 3 as good as the long 2..... again... 3 points are better than 2.

Note- With as good as Lin was the last few months of the season last year from 3 point land, and as good as his stroke has been so far this preseason, I just don't see the need for the Rockets to shift EVERYTHING about their offense, and sacrifice spacing inside the arc to accommodate Jeremy Lin going Kobe hero ball just for the sake of offensive variety. He already looks miles better from 3 point land than guys like Parker or Westbrook ever did at this stage of their careers. If its working, don't fix it.

I think we are thinking a little bit too hard here just on how to get Lin stats than we are on playing the TEAM style of game that's going to help the TEAM win games. Jeremy Lin will get his touches this year.

It was great to see Asik back on the court. Asik and Howard together was nothing special, but it was the first time they have ever played together. Asik with the second team looked good.

The only way jose can get his shot off is by picks and screen. to be fair Lin and Beverly had to chase jose through picks and screens.

Jose got his 10 points in the first quarter.

The second quarter and second half Lin shut jose down.

Jose got his 3 on a 4 on 2 fast break.

Lin drive by jose a few times but he miss the lay up.
