I believe the only reason the twin tower experiment didn't go well tonight is because Mavs have a lot good 3pt and mid range shooters.

Don't know why you or the others keep on mentioning Dmo.

The only game he has started.... he had some decent minutes without tangibles - average without any numbers on offense and about average on D.

We were in the game mostly because of the other 4 playing at a high level but ultimately lost the game, the only LOSS so far.

The other games he played well in are those when he came off the bench exclusively.

Last year he was bad as a starter, he is a much better player against the 2nd unit.

I hate to spoil it for you guys......well, not really;), but you saw what the Asik/Howard thing is going to like every time it's thrown out on the floor. One or the other will have a bad game.
    Something has to give.

Personally, I thought the Asik and Howard combo looked pretty poor. IMO, we should trade Asik for a high pick, he is a luxury this team just does not need.

Per 36 minutes, we got 13 points and 17 rebounds from the center position (Howard+Asik) this game. I'm encouraged.

Luxury? Who will defend on the 2nd unit?

I figure we can survive 12 minutes without him, but my pick would be Camby if healthy..

Call me crazy, but i think D-Mo can fill that back-up center void if need be. Then there is always Greg Smith.

I missed the game. That's good to hear. Whether Lin starts or not it would be good to see that line up sometimes. It seemed to really work in Game 1 against the Pelicans too.

There is no reliable defensive anchor on the 2nd unit. Smith/DMo are too foul prone. There just isn't a backup Ctr outside of Asik.

Lin's statline was basically a typical Rubio statline tonight.
One is hyped as a budding star. One is consistently bashed as a scrub and mediocre player. Funny how it works eh.

It's a good thing we have them both.

Coachbadlee, wasn't our defense ranked 27th or 28th last season? You want more of the same?

DaDakota, Camby played in an average of 28 games over the past three seasons. He'll be 40 by the end of this season. Do you expect him to contribute in the playoffs?

I think we should start beverly when we face dallas this season... Calderon just came out on all cylinders at the start of this game... I think Pat will put a stop to that...

Or maybe Lin just had a typical Lin statline tonight? To be fair, I don't hear anyone hyping Rubio as a star, but I do see him being better than Lin at defense and passing skills. He also came back from a serious injury last season so his stat should improve this season. That said, Lin is no scrub, he's pretty solid.

I don't know, Smith and DMo being foul-proned is pretty disruptive to our offense & sends the opponent to the line early. Also, until we know Camby is healthy enough to make the team by the cut-off date, he's not a back-up consideration of any kind.

I just watched the first quarter... and the twin towers experiment went fine.

It was the guards who were stinking it up on defense. Not Howard and Asik.

Overall, pick and roll D wasn't great.

And on offense, the Rockets missed a lot of easy shots. Parsons missed a wide open alley-oop layup off a fast break. Lin missed 2 layups driving to the basket with nobody in front. Dwight got hacked in the paint after an offensive rebound that the refs didn't call. (And I played it in slow-mo to see if he got blocked or was hacked... and he was hacked really bad. Terrible no call). And that's just off the top of my head.

Mavs went ahead with the line-up of Asik, Casspi, Garcia, Lin, Beverley

Twin towers did fine when they were on the floor together.
