adelman really flustered in his press conference about the team's shooting. i think he's close to bringing a hammer to the next practise.

What's wrong with that? 14-54? That's not bad considering Idleman is teaching these guys how to play basketball.

It is sad to loose confidence in your team.

We were down by 7 points with just less than 3 minutes to play. After all these years, this is the first time I didn't feel we had a chance to win.

I'm ashamed of myself, and of our Rockets.

close? the hammer should have been dropped a while back.

I felt the same way. Once they were down, I just thought..."it's over" :(

obviously the team just can't shoot. every player on this team either can't create their own shot (battier, head), or they can but they're very inconsistent (francis, james, t-mac, bonzi). thats a recipe for disaster. this is the same team that only had 4 players score in a playoff game. i know we've had new additions, but they've been overrated if anything.

look at the lakers. Farmar, Walton, Odom, Fisher, Vlade, even Sasha. every one of those players can create their own shot and shoot the ball. compare this team to the lakers and its easy to see what we lack, offensive versatility.

It's not that simple. They aren't missing shots because of an inability to create their own shot - they are missing OPEN shots. Last night they missed FTs, layups and jumpshots from every location: from the 3-point line to point-blank shots at the hoop. It was positively amazing to watch as I have never seen shooting this bad. This harkens back to the lotto teams of 5 years ago.

And I don't think it's the offensive system either because when they move the ball around - they are getting good looks. They just can't hit squat. I admit that I wasn't all that impressed with the off season signings but I never imagined that they could be this putrid on offense. And for those who feel the need to blame Yao: Yao did exactly what he was supposed to do when the defenses collapse on him: pass the ball out to the open man. It's not his fault that they can't hit the open shot. And once McGrady went out, defense for the Magic became really easy especially since the Rockets couldn't shoot for *****. The only thing that kept them in the game was that Orlando got really sloppy in the last period. I am actually starting to feel sorry for Adelman because he looks to be at his wits end right now.

    You mad?

Get real....this team lacks intensity on a night in and night out basis......last night there were times where they actually played like they cared, but during this tough run they've look unprepared and flat as hell.......it's hard to bring energy into the game when you are lifeless..............

That's one of the things I've been harping on. They may not be nearly as good without him either, but at least they're playing hard with McGrady out.

mad no, but what does intensity have to do with making a wide freaking open jumpshot?

These guys don't have a 9-5, it's their job and life, they should be able to hit a shot almost in their sleep much more than an average person, yet it seems like my old high school team had better shooters and it has nothing to do with intensity.

    That's an excuse.

This team needs changes, it has 3 non starters starting, the same ones who flopped out in last years playoffs, unathletic, undersized, overrated and can't create their own shot. There is no elite team in the NBA that has all of this going against them like the Rockets.

management has done a shamefully poor job of getting the right kind of players in here to fit todays NBA, and the two stars of the team is taking heat for not making up for deficiencies that should be easy for these guys to get by.

It's one thing to carry a load, and another thing to have to hold everybody's hand year in and out.

Intensity goes right along with FOCUS and CONCENTRATION. If you lack focus, you lose sight of the little things...and things like making open shots goes right out the window.

Stop trying to cover up for what he said.

Making a jumpshot doesn't require intensity. I guess if that was the case some of these so called Rockets fans knight in shining armor Kobe surely would find one season where he shoots at least 50% for the season, but he hangs around the league average year after year.

Let's not confuse intensity with something it doesn't go along with. Focus maybe, concentration, whatever, but it's not because they aren't intense. To be honest with you there is really no excuse for none of these guys to play this bad. NONE.

I'm not covering up what he said. I happen to agree with what he said, but thanks anyway.

Those things all tend to go hand in hand. That's where we disagree. But I do agree that there's no excuse for the bad play, so it really doesn't matter what the cause of it is.

A lot of other times it is because the players suck.

Look I'm not saying that we have the shooters just to shoot people out of building every night, but if you look at our players career statistics and then look at what they're doing this year then there must be a reason.......and how can you say something that requires jumping, focus, etc. doesn't require some sort of intensity?

it just comes down to me believing that this team has plenty enough talent to not only compete, but also have a better record than what we have right now.....we're far from being a "perfect" team, but I really don't believe this team is lacking from the talent perspective.....it comes down on whether or not they are ready to play every night......................how can you come out and beat a great team like San Antonio with Yao, Tracy, Bonzi, James, etc. all having good games and then come out and give a collective half ass effort against the Sixers?!?!?!?!?.......it makes no sense when you really think about it.

Yea, I think if Chuck gets more intense, then he can start draining 3s and FTs.

Jason Kapono is a great shooter yet looks quite the opposite of intense when he plays. He actually looks very relaxed compared to other players.

Peja looks pretty mild-mannered yet he shoots lights out.

Robert Horry also looked very relaxed every time I saw him hit a clutch shot.

    relaxed = NOT intense

It is not good for shooters to be tense and both the word "intense" and "tension" are derived from the word "tense".
