What I meant is it is not easy leading the team as No#2 when No#1 is not available. That's what most people perceive Yao, No#2. People need to be convinced that Yao can carry the team. Missing 6 shots in a row at crunch time doesn't help either (I am not blaming him, playing 16 minutes is too much). Don't get me wrong. I think Yao is going the right derection, I am just saying that it is going to be hard, at least for a while.
Just read an article from sina Link. Basically JVG says he is not happy that some players don't work as hard as last season and he says he is OK with the new guys. So which of the "old" guys he refers to ? Some trade might come sooner rather than later.
So far Yao has played like the best center in the league in the new season. He basically leads all the centers in the league in scoring, blocking and is #2 in rebounding. He has also improved on his timing of passing, and has cut down his TOs. He has played better than Duncan, KG, and Shaq in the young season and I am pleased at seeing the progress he has made this year.
Yup. As long as he keeps the same determination, aggressiveness and confidence. This will indeed be a break-out season for him.
Lets see. Barry - No. Mutumbo - No. Howard - Probably not. Bowen - He only does one thing and that is hustle so can you really say he's not working hard? Moochie- N/A I wonder who he must be talking about?
Hard or not, the Rockets don't have a choice but to rely on Yao. There's no one else that can carry that load. And which people are you talking about. Not his teammates, because they are well aware that Yao is the guy that they have to go to, hence giving him all the shots at the end of the game, despite him being cold.
I am just hoping that his teamates' confidence in him won't shatter after this Saturday. Maybe I just worry too much.
Though is only 2 games i think yao kinda prove that he can be 20/10 guy that we all expect him to be. But with t-mac out for 3 weeks, yao need to be more than that. The team needs him to put up numbers like 25pts 12rebs 3asst 2blks per game type of monster stats to succeed. Can yao achieve it?? we shall see.
Yao feels he's the man in this one... He will dominate.. one of our guards will go nuts and the bench is on top of things when they get to play... Will be: Yao - 27 pts, 11 rebs, 3 blocks Howard - 9 rebs Score: Rox: 99 Magic: 84 (Season W/L prediction record 1-1)
I know it's just two games, but right now Yao leads the league in blocks/game along with AK47 which we all wanted him to do since he is 7'6. Well, while it lasts. http://www.nba.com/statistics/playe...Scope=SEASON&qualified=N&yearsExp=-1&splitDD=
I would guess the missing player is DWes..... I want more Head!!! Younger, faster, more energy and hitting his shots. He cannot play any worse than DWes and recent evidence says that with a few 20-24 minute games under his belt Head will learn the offensive and defensive schemes and contribute. I can see Head satisfying Van Gundy and making him a calmer person.....
rockets lose by 200. steve francis has the game of his life with 69 points, 45 rebounds, 60 assists and zero turnovers. steve francis throws a vicious slam over yao and then body slams yao after the dunk. kelvin cato blocks every shot yao attempts while yao constantly gets fronted by dwight howard, constantly falling in-advertingly on his arse like he always does. andrew declerq makes a sportcenter highlight with his behind the back 360 tomahawk jam, while stromile swift sits on the becnh watching, but hes supposed to be on the floor, because theres only four players on the rockets floor. (hes still lost, and brain dead) van gundy gets fired, david wesley still sucks , and t-mac demands a trade once again. T-mac gets traded to miami. the rockets gets jason kapono, a second round draft pick, and cash considerations
This one worries me. Stevie is going to be looking to take advantage of his wounded old team. If you thought Chris Paul murdered us, wait until tonight. Yao needs to have a monster game.
Yao finishes with 25 points, 14 rebounds, 5 blocks then immediately gets attacked by your typical expert for being overrated & not playing with passion.
You guys know I love the Franchise, but Orlando has nothing out there besides Steve and Howard. With no T-Mac the Rockets still are the better team. Been watching Orlando’s first few games and Howard is an example of a guy who even though good enough to play in the NBA still would have benefited from some college experience. He has no post moves, no shot, its all dunks off dishes and rebounds. He’s a physical beast but his game is very limited right now.
great take. i agree entirely. i would be excited to have howard...but man, he needs some coaching. some finishing. even one year of college ball would have helped him with that.
