Great game by Steve and Cat. They really did save us tonight. The ball movement was very nice, crisp and solid passes for the most part. The unit of Nachbar, Padgett, etc really passed the ball well which led to open shots and helped contribute to the lead.

Yao, althought stats may say otherwise, didn't really have too good of a game. He looked tired or as if something was really bothering him. As others have stated, it was just one of those days/nights. The only thing complaint, as some might say, that I have about Yao is that he needs to make his move sooner. He holds it too long and the defense can adjust. You might say that he's holding the ball so he can see to whom he should pass. However, I think if he makes his move sooner the D will have to react to him then he can use his passing if need be.

Oh and when he does get to bump his opponent, when the officials don't call some BS on him, he needs to learn how to time the bump then go for the shot. B/c of his size he should bump his opponent and go for the move before they have the chance to collect themselves. Even half a second of having to collect themself, Yao should be able to give himself enough space/room to shoot w/o having to rush. I believe a technique like this will help with quick leapers such as Steven Hunter.

Anyway great game! Loved watching the passing!

Ok, so Yao went 6/18 FG. Looks like Stevie is a better shooter from the Nets game where he shot 6/17 FG !!!

Why the hell is everyone so damn negative right now?!

Yes, Yao didn't have his best game.. he didn't have a good game. He was getting hammered down low all night and the refs were letting Orlando get away with it. Even on a bad night.. you can't complain much about a double-double.

Jim Jackson had a terrible night as well and I don't see people bashing him.

The Rockets are the perfect team for Yao. Yao doesn't care about having monster stats, unlike most of the Yao-only fans like yourself. Yao wants to win a championship and he has the opportunity to jell with some serious talent here and has the coach that will get him the ball. So back the hell off!

    4-1!!!

Patrick Ewings Coaching looks like its realy paying off! Yaos game is beginning to remind me of a young Shaft!.Jvg has the Team playing realy well and the shellfish Cat is hitting his shots.I cant hang arround too long but I hope Piathreeski makes the starting Five, the only question is will anyone pass out to him on the arc? Jam Jackson is a realy sweet player, I am sure glad he is on our side.

compared to other threads, i wouldn't say they're being that negative. they're just doing some constructive criticism.

good job to the guys! :)

Constructive criticism would be to say that we need to shoot our FT's better or cut our turnovers down. Criticize things that you can change.. not "this isn't the team for Yao" or "trade Yao."

This is the Houston Rockets fan site, not the Yao Ming website(there are plenty of em and I love visiting them).

Hehe. Bill made the comment that when Lui (or whatever his name is) was slipping on the floor backwards, that it looked like "you and I" ice skating......Calvin made the comment that he was a good ice skater. I heard the part that you just posted, but I missed the part of the conversation where Bill may have said anything about blacks.
What did he say? And I know that the two kid each other all the time, that's what makes them fun to watch. :D

Why do we always label others Yao-only or Francis-only fans? Isn't it good for our team if some fans are pulling for their star-player on the same team even if that may not be your favourite star player? Isn't it the way the league selling the game with star-player? It would be abnormal if fans are not supporting their favourite star players. It would be horrible if our team have only one player that the fans like. It would be bad if there is no competition among the players. See how we came out in the last five years. See how Laker succeed with multiple star players! See how SA lose with only one Duncan this season.

I don't think any fan wants his favourite player's team lose. He may be upset if someone criticise his favourite player; but ALL OF US STILL WANTS ROCKET WIN. A win is a win regardless whose favourite star player is playing better in one game.

    :D :D :D

I didn't watch the game. Did Yao get good pass from guards? or just working on his own? He had 3 asistants first quater, decided not to give the ball to the guards anymore the second half?

Yao's shooting stunk tonight. The positive I see is even he shot terribly, he still took a few shots at clutch time. That is a change, a good change.

For all the confused newcomers, Yetti is being sarcastic. He's normally the staunchest supporter of Yao.

Yetti, all sarcasm and jokes aside, I understand your frustration---that even though we won, the W didn't come from the planned inside-out approach. (This is just one offshoot of MacBeth's and Jeff's excellent "half-full" thread). Point taken.

That being said . . . I don't quite get your veiled bashing of Mobley and Francis. They both played with passion and they both played well. Most of their shots were wide open. Yes, there were a few that were questionable. But Yao got plenty of touches; 18 FG attempts is nothing to complain about. Normally he'll hit half of those, which would be good for a cool 20.

So I see a W on all fronts:

    *Most importantly, the Rockets won
*Yao clearly played with more agression, which should have spillover benefit in future games
*The guards made an effort to get Yao the ball, as evidenced by the 18 FG attempts
*Franics and Mobley played brilliantly, reminding everyone why they are one of the best backcourt tandems in the league.
*The role players were terrific, as I think I'm going to become the first and only "Padgett-Only" fan.
*We overcame the distraction and short-handedness of missing Mo.
*Did I say that the Rockets won?

So please, in the immortal words of Rodney King, cant' we all just get along?
