Clutchfans Game Thread: Lakers @ Rockets 9/10/2020 (Playoffs Round 2, Game 4)

I'm watching the Rockets then watching a recording of the Texans. The Rockets game is do or die. The Texans game isn't.

 

Not sure what kind of adjustment is feasible if these 4Q stats are correct.

-51 in Russ only lineups is jaw droppingly bad. Russ is killing us offensively but moreso defensively in crunch time.

Until the very last day we'll be there. If they are who we think they are, we are going to read each other celebrating later, tonight.

If in fact, we have not grow anything and we are weaker, we'll read each other before game 5, maybe less optimistic. 1-3 against one of the top3 players in history is tall task.

Let's focus on today and the players available. And give them hell, if we lose, make them take it away from us.

 

Playing Bruno this late in the playoffs when he has gotten 0 run this season is such a ridiculous idea. I dont even trust Bruno if this is a Vipers playoff game.

Basically there is no adjustment to be made. You cant play some random scrub that hasnt gotten minutes all year and expect them to save our season. We'll just have to hope Rivers and Bmac give us good production otherwise this bench is a lost cause.

Mike Dan Tony would sooner play the starters 48 minutes then run with Bruno, Clemens. The only guys i see maybe possibly inconceivably getting minutes are Carroll and Frazier but its a really slim chance.

There is no adjustment. There is no secret sauce. This team wont and cant change their offensive/defensive identity. Whether yall like it or not, its going to be switching on defense, isolate and shoot alot of 3s on offense while running with the (6-7) rotational players we have. When we traded Capela for Covington, Morey already pushed his chips all in the Pot. There is only one way we can play.

 

So this is your preferred solution vs. mine?

7 man rotation is not going to win this series, Lakers are too physical and Rockets already showing dead legs in last 2 games in 4th.

 

Rockets defense has to do better, at least 1 role player going off every game.

And Rockets bench has to produce. Rivers and BMac cannot keep putting up goose eggs as well as net negative when their number called.

 

Any update on Tyson chandler? He was out last game like house for personal reason.

 

He's cleared...he can "play" tonight

 

Rivers problem is that he's not a spot up shooter. Rivers is a penetrator but he's behind Harden, Westbrook and Gordon on the totem pole so his role is kind of useless? He's a ball handler that doesn't get the ball on offense, but atleast he's a good enough defender to stay on the floor.

Bmac, imo, can still help us on offense if we give him enough minutes. But his defense is too poor and he gets abused on switches. Its up to Mike Dan Tony if he thinks Mclemore's offense is worth sacrificing defense for. If i'm the coach, i would make the gamble and hope he gives us a good 12-18 points off the bench. This is one guy other than our big 3(Harden,Westbrook,Gordon) that can heat up and put up points quickly.

 

Need BMac to heat up, but last 3 games his shot has looked as broken as his defense.

His defense might actually be better.

House being out kills Rockets bench because he is our 5th best defender and averages 11/1/3.

House good for 11 pts/game and Rockets lost Game 3 by 10.

 

He's a nightmare. Eye test alone can see that. This just confirms it. What a disaster... Figure out the double team, this should be an advantage for the Rockets, that's what offenses do, that's what teams look for is to create double teams. We're better than this.

Basically a win or go home game. There is no way this team is coming back from down 3-1.

btw, don't have too much expectations for this game because according to Woj, Rockets have all been forced into quarantine for the entirety of yesterday leading up to today's game because of the Chandler/House/unknown player incident. They probably did not have any extra time to prepare for today's game in terms of adjustments. There was a 3rd player involved according to the girl who went to visit the Rockets hotel, not named. NBA will likely suspend both House and Chandler for the rest of the series.

I would not be surprised in the least if Tilman wants all 3 of these players gone for jeopardizing our playoffs.
