They very well may not have been to ensure that Chris Paul gets a good seed. I honestly thinking there is a lot of conspiring going on in the bubble. For instance, Garrett Temple admitted that they talked with the Rockets by the pool about how to beat the Bucks.
I really don't think they would lose on purpose but playing real games every other day for the first week they probably have no legs right now and after locking up the 1 seed no reason to really go hard. Unfortunately they will probably go a little harder tomorrow. I'm sure they remember we beat them the last time we met and media has been saying rockets would have the best chance to break up the lakers/clippers WCF.
Lakers already clinched, but knowing the Rockets luck, the Lakers will probably try hard to win tomorrow.
Lakers don't want to see Houston in the 2nd round. Rockets still have to take care of their business though. That loss to Portland helps keep them in contention for the 8th seed to play you know who.
