"He's taught me to be a bad person. If you want to have success, you have to be a bad person."
-- C Yao Ming, in the April 22 Los Angeles Times, on how assistant coach Patrick Ewing has tried to make Yao "meaner", especially in order to play against Lakers C Shaquille O'Neal

sounds like the translation was a little off.

I was so proud of Cato. He didn't commit dumb fouls like on the second game. And when he got up after he was injured and ran back on defense showed how much he wants to win.

I loved their defense, everybody seemed focused. Francis and Yao played a beautiful game. I was very impressed with Boki's performance, he stepped up and delivered.

Yeah I agree. I know that Nachbar only had 5 points, but I feel like when he came in the momentum shifted. He hit a big 3 pointer and was mixing it up down low. They ran that "Cato Lob" to him and somehow he missed it. The place would have erupted. He stuck with it and got an offensive foul on malone. He looks more confident in his stroke. What a great game!! I also got pictures with David Carr, Damon Stoudamire and And 1's Escalade!

Yao's contribution was great on offense as well though this may not be reflected in his personal stats.

Yao basically had Shaq's undivided attention and made Shaq work on defense. Yao's fitness may be lacking but I noticed that Shaq failed to pass halfcourt on several Laker possessions and looked tired. How often have we seen Yao helping out on defense (unlike Shaq) by picking up guards at the top of the key. On offense Yao's presence and picks creates so much space for Mobley, Steve and the others to work.

even worse than the malone elbow was the wwe takedown shaq put on yao directly in front of the ref that went as a no-call. that was about as ridiculous as it gets.

Face it, Francis Endears Himself with the Fans like No Other

We all love him! The guy isn't just talented. SF3 has PERSONALITY. Little things like the early goaltending call against Shaq is a GOOD THING even if it meant 2 points for the opposing team. That little stance after the circus shot late in the 4th quarter were classic. Nothing arrogant. Just a little spunk and attitude.

    Gotta love 'em!

Went to the game and it was FRICKN UNBELIEVABLE! The crowd was pretty good but should have been more louder in the 4th quarter especially. We didn't make as much noise as we should. People were screaming go rockets outside of the arena (including myself) after the game. Everyone was so pumped. I lost my voice with my nonstop screaming at the game! Great game by Stevie and Co. I'm so damn proud of my Rockets.

I think ESPN will show the rockets replay at 2AM Central time (in less than 5 minutes)...they normally do.

    I BELIEVE.

ESPN 2 is replaying the pacers/celtics game already. The Rockets game should be on in a 5-10 minutes or so.

I thought Cat's attacking him on the offensive end had more to do with his reduced effectiveness on the offensive end than doubling him.

If you look at all three games played in this series, game two was the only one Bryant had big offensive production, and that's the only game Mobley didn't attack him as much offensively. When you set up picks for Cat, had Bryant running through all those bodys, chasing Mobley, he will be tired very quickly. That's the same reason O'Neal was very quiet for a long stretch tonight. He spent too much energy chasing Yao around picks.

Yeah, you are right. That's something that I have been noticing too. Yao has averaged 40 min/game after the playoff started... If he felt tired at the end of the regular season, just imagine how he would be feeling right now..........

But then, maybe it's coz his stamina improved, which is a great news!.........:D
