Did you watch the game? Yao demanded the damn ball every time he got the position against Shaq, what did the "teammates" do? they just walked away or took tough perimeter shots! Yao played a huge game outplaying Shaq again, but Rockets again lost their conscious. Bad decision for just 3 minutes cost us this game. Yao put up 15pts lead before he was out for the 4th foul, however the other players blew it away! If I was Yao, I would kick anyone's ass if he doesn't give me the ball.
all commentators said it was a kicking after they saw the replay. who, do you think, you are? f**k you.
Yao was 62% (13-21) from the field tonight. With the last 3 games against the Lakers, the guy just keeps getting better and better. He neutralized Shaq at LA back in Christmas, and outplayed Shaq twice since then. Seriously, if he had not got into foul trouble during the 3rd quarter, and if the guards had not froze him after scoring 6 in a row in the 4th, he would have had a career night and the Rocs would have won! I am ok with the game. My major complaint is that the Rockets seem to be the only team in the league that consistently freeze out your star players especially when he is hot from the field. If you watched the game, you would have noticed how frustrated Shaq was during the 3rd quarter after Ming dropped one shot after another shot against him with no miss.
isn't that exactly when we were going to yao? we went away in the middle of the 4th with yao settng lots of high picks and some rushed shots, but yao drew i think two straight fouls on shaq to get him to 5 and then yao got two more shots pretty quick after that: a hook shot where it looked like shaq fouled him and a shot driving down the lane where shaq hacked the hell out of him. i think there was only 2:42 left when shaq got 5 and we got it to yao two times in that time and both times should've earned foul 6 but of course they weren't going to call it. what can you do at that point? maybe if you argue the middle of the 4th, but at the end we did all we could to get shaq out of there in 2:42. but these are david stern's refs, how are you actually going to get foul 6 on shaq? edit: obviously this is not directed to Rokkit (i just didn't wanna waste another post), but this thread has been great for my ignore list. i think i've tripled it's membership in the last 5 minutes.

Great game, tough loss. No need to blame anyone. JVG could've used Kato more to guard Shaq in the 4th considering the foul trouble we had, and if we had one timeout left, it could've made a difference, but who knows?
I honestly think some of you guys see what you want to see. When was the "freeze out" on Yao? Does somebody have a play by play or the game on tape to see that last five minutes? That's BS.
Not a freeze out but more of a loss of focus on how the offense should work and a general panic overall. DD
another thing drives me crazy. shaq was clearly out of his comfortable zone to defend yao in 2nd hf. did your guy see how far shaq was out? if jvg's plan was to draw shaq out of paint area, why didn't our guard drive to the hook instead of making those low % jump shots?
Guards purposely let the Lakers catch up to them so they can jack up game winning shots at the end of the game and be heroes in front of national TV... oh well, we still can make the playoffs
I think they frozed out Yao in the laker's 10 points run. ANd least I don't think Yao got any touch in that trench. And in that period, each time we shot the ball in less than 14 seconds.
actually i do have it on tape (DVR baby!), and yao was frozen out for a stretch in the 4th..... with oneal on the bench for a while. it happened... pay better attention.
Yes they made some controversial calls, but if you keep going at Shaq, they will foul him out eventually, just like their last meeting. Refs normally reward aggressive teams, not the teams whinning for fouls. Just like some of Cat and SF's drives, they should just concentrate on making the shots, not that extra point. Because you need the two points at first. Everyone knows Yao could shoot with a high percentage. He missed two (uncalled fouls or not), you should still go for that high percentage shot of him at crunch time.
Simple. Yao did not get a single shot in the 4th quarter until 2 min mark when we were down 1 after he scored 6 in a row to put us up by 10. That was 6 freaking minutes, man, in the most important quarter.
During that point where, they "froze out" yao and the Lakers had the 13-0 run, was when they ran alot of high-screen-and-rolls with Yao. It was stated by JVG, that when those plays are called the guard always has priority to take the shot.
definitely a better way of putting it. i'm in no way trying to imply that the team purposely "froze" him out, they just lost focus. but it still happened.
