"Classic Rockets" is when they freeze Yao out on the court for 5-8 minutes at a time, and only put him out there to get tired. Oh, and blowing huge leads too.

I agree. But we should also give the Lakers credit. Kobe and Fisher made the difference at crunch time. They are a much maturer team. Although they were behind most of the night, they never paniced and lost faith in themselves. It remembers me their 7th game with Blazers, although the refs made some very bad calls there too, their desire brought them back. The rockets simply lack of that maturity. Not to blame single players, but all of them could do a better job at some point tonight, including JVG's questionable timeouts management. Hopefully they can learn from their mistakes. It was a good game.

come on man, this isn't Ming's team!
rox is more a back court team than center team.
jvg need to explain the loss tonight, why is that 13:0? why ignore Ming when he is doing good?

There was one odd play in which the ball was passed around the perimeter to Pike. He was on the same side of the floor as Yao. Pike took some awkward shot that bricked rather than passing it to Yao. Lakers then went down and scored. Van Gundy then took Pike out for the rest of the game. Pike doesn't usually make that kind of mistake.

gotta love the whining and b****ing (of course all on the guards) after a great game like this. reptile, how did the guards take turns turning it over? yao didn't really do much with it after a certain point in the 4th. even when he got it late his post game wasn't working anymore (fatigue most likely) and he couldn't hit the outside shot either.

if mobley's shot had gone in it would've been an amazing game, a classic for the ages. it doesn't and the b****ing ensues. overreaction central.

From what I saw. Steve dribbled it into Shaq's leg. To me it looked more like Steve was out of control. I could be wrong, but I have it taped, so I'll go back and check as soon as I'm done recording the postgame segment.

Not that it matters at all whatsoever one bit. :(

Again, everybody wanted to be hero in the 4th quarter. That translated to low assists and high turn overs and a LOSS.

They cannot. Whenever Yao sit, the team don't know how to score. And Yao was in fault trouble whenever they need a put the game away. At the 4th, the offense run away from Yao for 2 minutes and the Lakers put a 11:0 run during that stretch and tied the game.

i also do not get what francis did that ruined the game at the end. He was the hugest hussler in the 4th getting loose balls.

I know man..there is a stretch Rox couldn't make a damm shot....what is up with that...it shouldn't be like this since they're playing at home with fans cheering for them. It's annoying as hell seeing them losing this great game.

I thought i am going to be enjoying Yao's great performance on tape since i asked someone to tape it for me. But now that they lost the game, I don't really care anymore....just through the tape away for all i care!!!

    Francis 4 Prez...

Not much to complain about the forwards other than Mo Ts 3 for 9.

JJ and Yao and Cato all shot 50% or better.

The team needs an identity and it should be the 7'6" guy in the middle who provides it.

in that 0-13 run, Yao was ignored for no reason. I don't understand why they couldn't stick to that single play: Yao set a screen for Cat or JJ, SF feed the ball to Cat or JJ, and then the ball goes to Yao, and he either takes a hook shot or a baseline fadeaway. Instead, they decided to improvise and took three contested jumpers. I clearly saw Yao set the screen and then roll to his position, but the ball didnot go there.

i dont think the rockets offense is so heavily dependent on yao. serveral times the rockets went on huge runs when yao is on the bench in several games.

Well i was ticked seeing the Lakers making the run in the 4th and then I see Francis turning over the ball in the next possession ...then follow by Mobley. How pathetic is that...?? You're supposed to stop the RUN damm it, not turning over the ball and choked. What the hell is Mobley doing in this game??? That guy made ONLY 2 shots the entire game and turning over the ball at crucial time...he's one of the reason the Rox lost!!!

Two bad calls cost us the game.

First the Shaq kicking ball and then the dunk.

Second Ming was fouled by Shaq badly on the following play and the refs had no nuts blowing the whistle even to make up for the bad call. Ming was angrily contesting against the Refs.

4 point play in two sequences that cost us the game at the end.

you know, in the beginning of 4th quarter, they ignored Yao for at least 3 consecutive times! Yao was hot at that time and he was 6/6 at that time in the second half. Is it because they don't want Yao score 40+ against Laker?

The replay clearly showed that Shaq was moving his feet to block the ball.

    Guys,

I am a certified ref and trust me that kicked ball on O'neal was the right call.

It has to be intentional, and Francis just spun..and dribbled it off Shaqs foot.

It was unfortunate, but not a bad call.

There were plenty of those, but I don't think it cost the Rocks the game, they lost their identity again...for a stretch and the Lakers stayed with theirs and it worked.

One day, this team will mature, but you wonder whether the same guards will be on it.
