Head is a second year player, I don't know why you expect him to have perfect decision making all the time. He's capable of taking over games, as anyone who watched this game and watched him at Illinois knows now.

Decision making is something that can be fixed with coaching

I am still pissed off. I just couldn't get it. WTH should JVG put Yao in while our bench players were going to win this game? To close out the game? It dosn't make sense at all. We were still down by 4, and the rockets should just run and gun, in which Yao was not fit in. Why not just let the others play their game, maybe just once? I am now 60% convinced this stubborn coach can never lead the Rockets to Championship, ever.

Decision making in sport is 100% instinct.

It seems to me that Luther's decision making has actually regressed since last year. He turns it over a lot more.

It was an entirely different situation. That game was pulled away from us and not even close near the end, whereas we were closing in like crazy in this game.

Agreed, all I saw from Yao was indecision at the end. He could have blocked that floater but was on his heels. Also our next possession he did not even attempt to get the offensive rebound. He did not need to be out there IMHO.

Head can develop into way more than a role player, thats for sure.. he can do more than shoot, he is very athletic and displayed a wide array of offensive skills in college. He was drafted in the 1st round for a reason.

94-92 was just a focal point.....Kwame did get the basket to make it a 4 point lead...before Yao got in.... im thinking when we got it down to within 10 points...starters should have went in...

but... then im sure other teams rely on their 3rd and 2nd string guys to finish a close game for them...

That was offensive goaltending. Damn refs. We'll get our revenge Friday.

Lakers starters entered the game with 4 minutes left. JVG stayed with out second unit, and we continued to outscore them 5-0 over the next three minutes.

Does that happen if we put our starters back in as well?

And the Lakers 2nd tier players totally kicked Rockets A-- in the 3rd. They just kept pouring it on. No need to say "Well the bench is doing this so AUTOMATICALLY starters can do what they're doing better"

If its working, stay with it. That should be a good thing for the Van Gundy critics who says he never trusts his young guys.

Are you serious? Discipline and age have nothing to do with it? What about coaching and knowledge of the game? You're r****ded if you believe that it's 100% instinct.

It just happened to Assistant coach Gundy on his own floor twice by two coaches who are greater than he is. You would think he'd learn something from two men who own at least 12 rings between them.

after this game, I truely believe even YAO is such great, we need TMAC! He is our creator and offense need go through him. YAO can not dominate every game, maybe 2.5 qtrs and someone else has to step up, or JVG needs to find the best roation around him when TMAC out. No way we could beat top 6 team in west if play like tonight

So his crappy starters that got his team down in the first place, gonna be confident in bringing in those same guys with no hesitation?
