i think he continued to score, but he had to use picks to get open. he got by kobe a few times, but yeah, kobe's a good defender.

man Bonzi looks completely lost, it will take him ages to be in basketball shape. I think it is not worth it. This is like Vin Baker all over again, a player just embarrassing himself out there.

The young kids grew up tonight  that was awesome even though we lost. now we have a team to run with the Phoenixs of the NBA. A loss that we gain something out of, I'm sure JVG was even proud.

JVG lost to Phil for sure. We need TMAC badly, otherwise Lkaers will win every matchup with us: Let YAO go in the first half and double hit hit hard in the second. Such easy equation.

big mistake by JVG when we down 2: should put YAO on: you win by your best player and lose by him. Simply enough

We are going to face Lakers again on Friday, if we keep play like this, we might have a good chance to win. That is, it depends how much adjustments JVG would make next time.

This is kind of feel like the playoff, facing the same team twice in one week.

Hi, Guys, look on the following. Why did Van Gundy refuse Wells to practice. It really sounded anoying to me.

Update: Coach Jeff Van Gundy allowed Wells to return to the practice floor Monday, the Houston Chronicle reports. It was the first time in more than a month that Wells participated in a full workout with the team, and he's unlikely to play much on Tuesday night.

Recommendation: There's still no explanation as to why Van Gundy refused to permit Wells to practice, and Wells isn't in game shape yet. But with Tracy McGrady sidelined indefinitely with back spasms, Wells could be needed sooner rather than later. Look for Wells to get up to speed in the next several days and gradually work his way into the rotation.

JVG did put Yao in on the next dead ball, no?? Padgett's FT's came on a loose ball foul on the Lakers side of the court.

If it were Rudy T, it'd be the same thing. Go with whatever keeps working, even if it meant Moochie at power forward. The fact he did put starters in then yeah, if that was he was gonna do that move then he waited a liiiiittle too much on that move. It'da been sweet if a team of Lucas, Novak and Head and Hayes pulled the game out though

Head really stepped up tonight, he's a decent replacement for T-mac. Its too bad about the missed free throws and Yao having such a bad 2nd half. I think JVG needs to design more offensive plays not involving Yao.

Bonzi was good at boards. He didn't get too much touches, plus he hasn't gelled with this team. It is so obvious on that pass from Yao to him. But his following hustle caused a TO. Given his current situation, I wouldn't blame him for anything. Just pray JVG would send him back to his doghouse because of this game.

I'm still upset with the game, we were so close to pull this one out. :(
But we just couldn't hit our free throws at the end.

One good thing out of this game is we might just find our third scorer
in Head. And maybe Lucas deserve some more playing time in the future.

    P.S. Bonzi whales still FAT!

head love is getting carried away. he's a terrible decision maker and he's not a good defender. i love his shooting and i'm glad we have him but he's nowhere close to a mcgrady replacement. if mcgrady played and didn't take a shot we still would have been in this game in the third.

head is a nice role player, who will hit the clutch shots and open the floor for yao and tracy. a star he is definitely not.

That does sound a little curious, right. Saying in the paper he needs to get in game shape to get considered but then not allowing him a way for him to choose to stay in shape. Very self-fulfilling if it was to make Bonzi appear bad.
I'm still thinking Bonzi did something though. JVG's played jackasses before.

Well, you can always 2nd-guess a coach's decision. I wouldn't squarely blame JVG for leaving Yao out when the score was 92-94. The bench earned their time and rights to finish the game. Missed FTs at crunch time are the killer. It'd still be anybody's game if Padgett could just make one. Yao could then be inserted onto the court. The blow to the morale on the team with both FTs missing was unmistakably huge. The Lakers got their full confidence back and the momentum just swang the other way.

What team uses their benches to close out games?
Didn't Pop just eat the Rockets up the same way a couple of weeks ago?

No point in him turning up to practice if he wasn't putting in the effort. Cardio is individual training. He's not up to speed because he hasn't been doing the cardio work.

No trouble at all. I think Phil had a better plan for the game. It felt like the whole game under his control. When rockets is hot, laker can keep the pace. They contained Yao fairly well. Then the third quarter a KO, just like laker vs spurs. Rockets got the momentum in last 4 mins which is really exciting, but sadly the bench can't grab the win. Laker is a younger team but they show more mature, the master shall have some credit. Look how Walton killed rockets in third quarter? Last year even laker fans boo him in home court.
