I would hope not. If that trade went through, we would have two 30+ PFs with 4 years left on thier big contracts. I say Howard for Thomas. But would Isiah do it?

The only knock I have on Yao and Tracy is at the end of games they do not go to the basket aggressively at the end of this game Yao was settling for jumpers. He seems to be too willing to take what is given particularly at the end of games. Mc Grady goes to the basket but tries to finger roll it everytime to his right he needs to goes to the basket stronger and either finish or get to the line especially at the end of games.

If you thought that the Yao in the 4th quarter was the same Yao that started the game and the third quarter, you are sorely mistaken.

His shooting was reduced to fadeaways in the 4th... and not Hakeem fadeways baseline, but Jordan fadeaways back towards the 3 point line (one of them actually went in).

I still think all other parts of the game deserve blame.. the coaching, the DEFENSE, and McGrady's last shot... but I'd like it if one of the supposed sure things on this team was not reduced to more than a role-player when his fatigue level gets low in the 4th quarter.

In Atlanta, it was partly because Yao stopped fighting for position early that he stopped getting the ball (although that was complete meltdown). Tonight, they still tried to get him the ball at all costs...

It was my first time to see the team and though the loss was disappointing, and untimely mistakes cost the Rockets the game, overall, I was impressed with their play. Lue looked better than he has been described on this board. TMac and Ming looked dominant at times. The rebounding is, well, awful. They didn't look unmotivated as some of you describe. They look like a work in progress that has quite a ways to go, but I am optimistic. I think they are going to be really good in a couple of months. A "banker" three wins a game at the buzzer; that isn't going to happen too often. However, fading in the fourth quarter is not a good habit to get into.

    I've got three points:

    1. That shot was pure luck.

    2. The Knicks got an insane performance from Kurt Thomas. The Rockets D will give up that shot every time. A far better shooter than Kurt Thomas will generally miss more than Thomas did today.

    3. We have nothing outside of Yao and McGrady. The other players only have to hit the 3 and play decent D. They couldn't do that today. They're pathetic. But they'll be replaced.

What's sad is this is one of their best games in a week and they still lost to one of the worst teams in the east at home.

So how do you guys deal with this? Obviously life goes on but I'm a die hard rockets fan...and bein a die hard fan kinda means how well the rockets do has a place in my everyday life. Seeing them lose is one thing, but just lack of character and losing games we SHOULD and NEED to win goes beyond disappointment. Can anyone give objective and logical insight on how the rockets will do from this point? I mean we've been saying "it's early" and "next game" after the meltdown against the hawks.....where are they goin now that they lost a consecutive game to a knicks team at HOME??

when your TWO best players posted 24/6/8 and 23/11 and yet the team still lost... we are in DEEP DEEP trouble. This show our bench are really thin. And again we get outrebounded by EASTERN conference team. so far we are 1-4 against Eastern Conference teams, if you are western conference team and yet having lossin records against Eastern teams, you are DAMN TERRIBLE. These teams are not even top tier Eastern teams line indiana, miami or even orlando.....
Please prepare to miss the playoffs if nothing has been adjusted.....
I still propose to start either Padgett or Spoon at PF and Motay off the bench to provide some offensive against opposite bench. Please put Howard at the deep end of the bench for GOD SAKE.

Btw, our team has no fire at all.....

You guys need to face it: this Rockets team just isn't very good. Sure you got McGrady, who's better than Francis (or should I say more talented, Tmac has never won a damn thing yet), but you gave up Mobley and Cato on top of that.

The Western Conference is stacked right now and I question whether this team is even better than last year's. Management needs to get serious and surround Yao and Tmac with legitimate NBA talent or else everyone is in for a big disappointment, and possibly no playoffs.

And just out of curiosity, how good is JVG's defensive scheme? I know that's what he's known for but shouldn't good defense translate to defensive stops? Shouldn't that mean people like kurt thomas wouldn't be left open time after time? in the 10 games so far, can anyone convince me how JVG"s defensive scheme is so AWESOME if teams still find a way to score??

That was a good luck shot but it was an open one from twenty five feet within a good shooter like Jamal Crawfords range. We cannot give up anymore open jumpers like that or it will be a long season. I do agree that the other players really need to help Mc Grady and Yao and Van Gundy needs to work on rise player rotation

JVG looked like he wanted to quit at the post-game press conference. The guy has the demeanor of a funeral director, give me Rudy T. anyday. Anyway, there were some positive things about this loss, 2 good back to back games by Yao, he seems to be getting better. McGrady exploded to the basket, so it looks like the groin injury is behind him. Tyrone Lue played pretty well. Bobby Sura was on the bench and will be back sooner than expected. The guys did play with heart and got beat by a lucky backboard three.

Expectations were high at the beginning of the season but to me the last 2 losses have dashed those expectations. If we struggle against the Hawks and Knicks then there is no way we contend against the likes of the Spurs, Mavs, Suns and Jazz. JVG had a rep in NY of getting the most out of his talent, well he needs to pull something out of his a$$ now.
