Its convenient thinking to say make room for Aaron Brooks with 35 minutes a game, make him the starter and get rid of everyone. Need to remember he's still a rookie. And however the current setup is, KEEP IT that way until it stops working. Let the progression happen as gradually as it can be. I don't care if the Rockets have Mutombo coming in as the other guard with Brooks, if its helping the team get some W's, stay with it. We thought Francis was ready after the Sun's game.... No doubt though that Brooks will be a very good player, and there isnt any physical issue setting him back like Francis. Just not ready (yet) to "completley" hand him total reigns. Though instead of months down the road or next year, its looking more like weeks when that does.
Yes, Hayes doesn't have that much advantage over Scola on rebounds. It is the defense that is definitely in Hayes favor, but I wish Adelman had put Scola in a lot more because he has to have the PT in order to improve.
If half of Yao's passing turn into points, he will soon be the "King of Assistant". A good game but not great! It is excusable for a back-to-back. However, to go a long way in playoff, a center back-up for Yao is crucial. Trade the cheer-leader!
I remember when the season started everyone had brooks as the 3rd or 4th man in the rotation and where saying "give him a year in the d-league and he will eventually be a solid back up"... Now its like "HE IS OUR STARTER!"
Brooks won't completely get handed the reigns this season unless Alston gets injured. That said, the future is bright for this kid. Brooksball in effect, baby!
Didn't see the game tonight,so I wanted to ask why did Scola get only 1 rebound? Is he only bothering to score or did he have too many problems in getting to the boards?
With the way Rafer has turned the corner, I am very comfortable of having both of them on our team. Alston alleviates the burden of brooks to perform. A rookie needs to make mistakes to learn, and rafer's presence allows him to do that since the burden usually lies with the veterans.
In this game, there is only a thing I am not satisfied. That is Scola get less PT even less than Hayes. I really don't know What Adelman think. Scola is one of main players in future. Under 20mins, 5/6 shots, he got 10 points.
damn, we had a game tonight....I thought we didn't play again until monday...the b2b are crazy. good thing we won though, hope the winning streak can get to 8 or 9.
Yea, Scola is only trying to score. He is a selfish player with no team concept. C'mon, dude. Scola is obviously a hard-working, team player. Obviously, he struggled getting boards tonight but it wasn't because of a lack of effort or only concerning himself with offense.
I remember reading that in your column. I'm still wondering how much Adelman influenced that pick. It was a real shocker, and looking like the work of a genius right now.
Alston also tends to improve his play when he feels like his starting role is threatened. I like the Alston & Brooks combo, too.
Scola averages 5 boards in 19'36 minutes. That is quite decent, even more efficient than Yi Jianlian. But he has got only 1 rebound the last two games.
I know he is a team player, that's why I was surprised he didn't get more rebounds. Good to hear that he is putting forth an effort despite struggling. Hopefully he will get better soon.
Dang, if the Suns had drafted AB, they would have had the heir apparent for Steve Nash...Barbosa and AB in the backcourt together
