I don't get it... Yao is the aggressor, and he gets called for the foul. Yao plays passive defense, and gets called for the foul. So basically, that whole "perception" by the refs on how hard you play is complete BS. They just try to even the game up as much as possible... unless its Shaq down there.
They'll call ONE a game on Shaq... just to try to keep him honest... but that's it. Yao has 3 today... and its plain lunacy.
The refs call offensive fouls on Yao because he's not normally this aggressive, which forces Yao to play less aggressively, which in turn causes the refs to get more strict with their calls. 5 fouls in under 19 minutes of play. You've gotta be kidding me.
I'll refrain launching into Peja too much because this is just the 2nd game of the season. The guy is the most gutless talent in the NBA. He makes Vince Carter seem like Michael Jordan when it comes to mental toughness. If Peja doesn't have a great season, the Kings are cooked. Stick a fork in them and forget the playoffs. If Peja comes around, then they have a chance at a decent season.
I have not read the whole thread and i dont know if anyone has already mentioned this...but clyde is the most boring tv announcer i have even heard. he is quite DULL that he actually makes me wish to have back the days of coach van
McGrady played well tonight, I didn't think he was going to show up/make too much noise because of the injury. JB is the M.A.N. That guy has more brains that many superstars in the league, his b-ball IQ is off-the-charts.
No ****, and when he does go conservative people knock on him and call him soft. He's in a no win situation when it comes to the ref.
The key is, from this point on, don't back down. If Yao continues to be this aggressive... this team will be in pretty damn good shape.
I say let's start a petition to get him back for one or two more years...the guy still has LOTS of basketball left in him, I can't imagine having this team without him on the roster. His 3-pt shooting and passing has done wonders for this team. BTW, anyone notice that Stro's offensive skills consist of mainly trying to overrun his defender and get called for a charge, or just dunking it? His offense is still kind of raw, and his rebounding aggressiveness leaves much to be desired; I don't think he's utilizing his athleticism/speed/lengthy arms to get those rebounds. JVG has lots of work to do on young Stro.
what I like is that last year we would have waited until down 2 to go back to yao, but this year, up 6 we found him. Much better strategy.
