unlike game 4, t-mac played okay tonight. not perfect (jazz were in the penalty, but he settles for jumpers?), but okay.

this loss is on yao's slowness and our role players. boozer owned.

McGrady has got to go, as well as JVG!!!!!!!!!

Yao is the guy to build around, Tracy's done!!!!!....he started playing so well then he stopped driving to the basket to take silly jumpers????? WHAT???

The reason why we lost is because we have no other big man other than Yao, honestly if we did we would not have had Yao on Boozer, who took us out to lunch!!!

Damn this team needs changes if it expects to get anywhere!!!!!!!!

Anyone who says that the loss is due to Yao must be blind.

The Rox was playing with an 8-man roster (with a 40-yr-old DM and another vet who can't guard Boozer JH 30-yr-old) against a 9-man roster Utah (avg age 26.7 years) so they lost despite fighting with hearts in the second half. Its partly because of medicore selection of role players by CD and partly of JVG's stubbornness in not making good use and/or developing the bench for playoff games. The fighting spirit of Rox in the second half is commendable. However, they need to be changed drastically. The first one to go must be JVG as I can't see how he could improve this team with this stubbornness.

I guess Van Gundy's job is in jeopardy, but I don't think it matters much. I've lost all optimism that a TMac/Yao tandem is going to do anything in the playoffs. All of the hope I had when Steve Francis was traded is gone. Who cares who the coach is.

It's going to be a long offseason. I don't see any other scenario other than going to war with the same two "leaders" as the past three years, and even then who will we face in the playoffs? A better, playoff-tested Jazz team. Or hey, maybe just the Spurs. There is no immediate future for the Rockets. It may be yet another decade before the team limps into the second round. Welcome to the new Astros.

I look forward to seeing what new, amazing injuries our "stars" invent next year en route to their usual 60-game seasons.

Bottom line, I'm not in a good mood! :D

WTF? What game were you watching?

Yao...28 pts. How do you not show up 3 qtrs and be the leading scorer? The guy fought hard.

Luther Head and Alston must go.

Bonzi hurt us by BS'ing all season and then quitting b4 the playoffs.

    T-Mac and Yao were solid.

Could have used some consistent bench scoring and another player.

I can count 3 times yao failed in the final minutes

    1. He did not box out Williams and let him follow up a missed jumper for a layup
2-3. He let Boozer dominate him, leading to 2 Okur threes, dagger.

    That's that.

Personally, I agree with Clyde's assessment: this team is only a couple of pieces away from going more deeply into the postseason. That, and/or I would love to see some of the deeper bench players (read: Spanouli) come into training camp with a vastly improved game. Wishful thinking, sure, but it does happen sometimes.

The key, regardless, is to keep a consistent core. The more comfortable and familiar with each other teammates become, the more smooth play becomes. I need only point to an organization like the Spurs to underscore the point.

I'm bummed, but I'm trying not to get sucked into depression. It's tough, though.

Here's hoping Golden State stomps a mudhole in the Jazz. Payback by proxy, yo.

a beacon of sanity in a see of madness.... gracias.

i agree. yao, mac, battier will all be back. hayes and vspan (who does have a lot of potential) would be great as backups... other than that, we need some shooting and athleticism.

Speed kills and thats why Yao will NEVER be a great player. This series exposed Yao to his GLARING weakness in being slow footed and hence his inability to grab crucial rebounds , being turnover prone, getting blocked on NUMEROUS occasions by OKUR of all people(who is not known for his defensive prowess), and of course Boozer making him his *****. You can't blame Yao too much because I know Yao works hard, but hard work will only get you so far. I don't care if Yao still pulled good stats for the series, he looked totally weak out there, and Kerr was right when he mentioned what Yao would have faced had the Rockets advanced and played Golden State. Yao would have been rendered completely ineffective by the smaller, quicker, athletic Warriors.

we lost to JAZZ's rebound. when we had 84-80 lead, we didnt get rebound and let BOOZER have 3 point play and foul YAo to the bench.

    last min.... speechless

    T-Mac had 29 and 13
    Yao had 29 and 6

Sure Yao could have gotten a few more rebounds, especially in those final sequences...but McGrady could have made a few more free throws (5-9)

But I don't think you can blame those two too much...they got theirs, and stepped up in the 2nd half. They just need to be deeper...only 10 pts from the bench. Need a few more pieces.

And Mario is spot on...Jazz in the penalty at the 7 minute mark and they stopped attacking the basket.

I agree. Yao played fine down the stretch, I think Tmac did fine too. We played our heart out but, hey sometimes things just do not go ur way. Something has gotta give. Yao, Tmac, JVG, at least one of them has gotta go.
