My guess is that the coach pulled Brooks in favor of Alston to guard Williams. I am not sure I agree with that move but it was likely his reasoning.
I guess what always puzzles ne when the rox play utah is that they have no shotblockers, yet they rox only have a couple of guys that will get to the rack. I'm not chicken little like the sky is falling, but this team needs tweaking. It doesn't have to be a major overhaul, but Marquise Daniels or Jaric as a big ball handler would be nice. Ricky Davis as a slasher/atheltic guy would help. Last but not least, pj brown as the mid range guy would help a lot. Jaric, Daniels, and Davis are all mle guys that won't take a lot to get. Brown is just working out waiting on a call.
I agree all they do at the most is stand up and fold their arms and look at others cheer from the nose bleeds
If this team plans to contend in the next few years, we need something better than Daniels or Jaric as a PG upgrade. Unless you can somehow move Alston as the core of our part of such a trade, I wouldn't do it. The best affordable upgrade I can think of is still Andre Miller. I don't know what the 76ers plan to do with him, or what they would want in return, but that is a player that could elevate this team.
It's STUPID BASKETBALL! Novak is there to score, not to defend. If you're going to play with him in the fourth then get him the ball and let him shoot. If you're not going to get him the ball then pull him. Keeping him out there and not getting him the ball gives you the absolute worst of both worlds: zero defense and zero offense. Why was Novak on the floor? Because Adelman wanted him out there. Why did Adelman want him out there? To shoot the three. The guys on the floor have to recognize why Novak is playing and leverage that. What's Adelman supposed to do, run out there and play point himself? So, low basketball IQ in the fourth by the Rockets. What's more, Tracy is never going to be able to get it done all by himself. He's going to have to learn to trust his teammates. What makes this so tremendously disappointing is that in the Blazers game the rookies scored the last 12 points. T-Mac was content to play floor general and get the rest of the team involved.
T-Mac's shots in the fourth quarter: Code: 9:15 makes 18-foot shot 8:37 makes 20-foot shot (Novak assists) 7:24 misses 3-pointer 6:22 misses 2 Free Throws (HOU rebound and score 2 anyways) 4:52 makes 22-foot shot 4:18 misses 3-pointer 2:27 makes 21-foot shot 1:30 makes 3-pointer 0:50 misses 3-pointer He took 8 jumpers, and scored 11 points on them. He never missed 2 consecutive field goals at any point in the 4th. McGrady did not play well offensively in the first half. Blame him for that. But he did fine in the fourth quarter on the offensive end. If we had played just average defense and held them to 25 points in the 4th, we would have won the game.
Hoenstly, today Tmac was ok, not bad, not great. Rafer and Landry were off, 4/13 and 1/6. In addition, without Yao, is a big loss for rebounds.
It seems Landry has a difficulty to play a physical team like Utah. We need Yao, and he is the best C in the league.
All I'm saying is he could provide the rox with something they don't have, but really need. Davis is no all star, but playing against utah, his game fits the bill. He a very good slasher, scorer, finisher. They rox only have one of those really. He's atheletic enough to get in some of those creases. Is he great? No, but when the rox play teams that allow slashing, they can't take advantage. He's like 28 and pretty durable.
Thanks for breaking that down. And he was playing hurt. I think the guy deserves kudos for his effort.
Novak was in the game and he was covered. That's one less defender that can come over and help elsewhere. Even if he's not attempting a shot, him being a threat outside can still help the offense ... hence 30 points scored. What were you expecting, exactly? Us to score on every single possession? How many points do you think we should have scored? We gave up 37 points, so I guess you think that if we played like we were supposed to we should have scored at least 38 or 39 points?
I understand but I think the guy is a cancer. When he was in Boston they sucked. Now Miami is sucking. Did the Twolves suck too when he was there? I want Mike Bibby or Jason Kidd Honestly I think if Rick Adleman would of just stuck with Mike James he would eventually come around but RA is too inconsistent with his rotations that I believe it effects players.
The Rox really need to do something about Dumb HEAD and James, this is just stupid for hanging onto them, try to trade at least one of them losers for someone who is decent at one aspect of the game so we can utilize it
Good point. All we had to do was get Novak the ball in the fourth, and we'd have been perfect from the field.
