    Amare is close to Hakeem?

Then Joe Johnson must be another MJ, and Chris Milm must to Wilt Junior!

Let's us how Amare does in a slow down half court game. Let's see whether he can deliver baskets after baskets down the stretch when Nash just throws the ball to him in the paint.

Tell Deke to sharpen up those elbows. Maybe he can 'accidentally' clock Nash a good one, too.

LOL....I have to say that the player I dislike most on the Suns is Nash...I've always hated the way he plays...to me he gets away with so much (he kinda reminds me of a lesser John Stockton in that sense). Here Here, I second your motion: Knock Nash to next Friday Deke!

    Post Game Quotes 01.02.05

ROCKETS HEAD COACH JEFF VAN GUNDY
(on the play of Juwan Howard) "Well, I thought what he did really well doesn't show up in the box score which is, I thought, he made it hard for Carlos Boozer to catch the ball. I thought his post defense was terrific tonight, and there's no stat for that. So many things that go into winning there is no stat for and that your team has to grow to appreciate things that win, and that wins (post defense). You'll get no recognition for being a great post defender, or you'll probably get no recognition for balancing the floor correctly and running transition opportunities, but all those things go into winning and there's no stat for that."

(on the play of Bob Sura) "He's got a 2-guard mentality. He's an aggressive player by nature. We can use the points (24), as long as they come within context, and I thought tonight, in particular the 2nd half, he got some opportunities, but he also created some opportunities for others. It's welcomed and needed."

(on the difference of the team after halftime) "Utah is hard with all their cutting and movement and I thought, offensively, the way to try to attack them is not through a lot of post-ups or isolations. You've got to move their defense, try to drive, pick and roll, and I thought we were a lot more unselfish in the 2nd half and I thought our defense was a lot better which allowed us some opportunities to get some transition opportunities. That's who we are...we're a fast-breaking team (laughter)."

    BOB SURA

(on the significance of the Rockets getting a win to put them over .500) "We've got to try and make our push. We're right there in the playoffs right now. We've got a tough schedule coming up, but, I think we've gotten a lot better so we need to get some victories and move up in the standings a little bit."

(on his role on the team) "I'm kind of a free-wheeling type of player, get up and down. I make plays for myself and for my teammates. I try to do a lot of things that don't show up on paper either."

(on his contribution tonight -- 24 points, 10 rebounds) "We definitely need a 3rd scorer to step up, other than Yao (Ming) and Tracy (McGrady). Whoever that may be on a given night, tonight it happened to be me."

    TRACY McGRADY

(on the key to tonight's win) "Defense. Intensity. We stayed within our game plan and not giving those guys confidence. I think we were confident enough to come out and just take care of this game. We gave a better effort in the 2nd half and executed our game plan."

(on the rebounding of Juwan Howard at the power forward position) "Juwan
(Howard) is capable of doing that (12 rebounds). He's underrated a little bit, but he works hard day in and day out. I think a lot of that started with Bobby (Sura) being so active and that carried over to everybody else.
Once we see a guy like that playing hard on both ends, it just carries over to everybody else."

(on the Rockets's season-high 22 fast break points) "Usually when we come in here (locker room) at halftime, it has fast break points on the board and our fast break points sometimes are like 3 and 4 points, but 22, that's pretty good. That's the type of basketball I like to play, get out and running. Forget about plays, just go out and run in transition. We've got a lot of guys that can knock down shots and it's good when Bobby (Sura) pushes the ball like that because they've got to collapse on him and we have shooters spotting up all around the court. I like this team."

    DAVID WESLEY

(on the win to put the team over .500) "In the last 2 games, we have beaten
2 teams that beat us previously and I think that there's no question that over the last few games that we played, the team has played better, especially tonight in the 2nd half. Our defense was really good, it ignited our transition for us to score easier baskets instead of depending on one guy to score or 2 guys to score. So, as long as we keep playing that kind of defense, our transition will be good and it's going to give a lot of guys opportunities to make easy shots."

    YAO MING

(on his scoring 15 points while still fighting the effects of the flu) "Coach (Van Gundy) told me before the game that Michael Jordan played sick against Utah and scored 38 (points) so it gave me something to measure. He has very high expectations of me and I couldn't give up on that."

(on the media's belief that the Rockets's problems include the power forward position but Juwan Howard and Mo Taylor played well tonight) "When you're playing that position, it's hard. It's easy to say things from the outside, but when you have to perform, it's a different story."

UTAH JAZZ HEAD COACH JERRY SLOAN

(on the game) "Our energy level went to pot. We have to keep playing because they aren't going to give us a night off because we need rest. We're not in very good shape, and that's my fault. I'll take the responsibility for that. Houston is a little better team than we are but we have to keep competing on the court. It looks like we are bored out there. They (Jazz) need to jump out and fight their way out of it. The game was winable but we need the mental capacity to get the job done."

(on Sura's play) "He played a terrific game. Ten rebounds for a guard is really something. He played a real nice game and it is probably the best he has played in awhile.

    MATT HARPRING

(on the Jazz's play) "We have to kept fighting as a team and we have to believe we can turn it around. In my own experience, this is the toughest stretch I have gone through. I have never been in this type situation before and I let it get to me and I should have played through it."

(on what turned the game around) "In the third quarter we had a couple of turnovers and that led to easy shots and then they opened up a lead. The type of basketball that we play, we are just not a good catch-up team and that hurt us."

    CURTIS BORCHARDT

(on the Jazz's play) "You have to weather the storm and buckle down. It's always the second half when we have our problems. We had a couple of turnovers in the third quarter and that led to easy baskets and it snowballed on us. We didn't respond as a team.

    GORDAN GIRICEK

(on the key to the game) "In the third quarter we allowed them to make some three's and when we were trailing it was hard to stop them."

(on playing without Kirilenko) "We need to show a better game and when Andrei (Kirilenko) returns, it will be easier on the team. There are no alibis from us, we have to keep playing the games. We have to stay alert and keep our concentration and not put our heads down.We have to find a way through this crisis."

    KIRK SNYDER

(on the game) "Houston really got it going in the third quarter with their three's and it was hard for us to come back.We played hard and left it on the court."

(on Sura's play) "Last time we played Houston, he didn't play but he looked real good driving to the rim and shooting the ball.

Does anyone know who this Admare is? Is this a new guy on 10-day contract? I went to nba.com, but couldn't find him or her?

I have no comment to an idiotic remark like that.

Then why the heck did you respond to it. This thread was absolutely buried until you bumped it back up to the top. Geez.

oh come on m_cable, that was a rhetorical comment that I made. It's pretty irritating seeing CHARVO and PATLABOR become bosom buddies against YAO for no cause at all, agreed??
