I've been saying for the whole season that the Rockets should try to get Chris Andersen..now everyone will jump on the bandwagon.

I must say that this was one of the most painful games to watch. I hope the Rockets learn from this game.

He'd be a great fit with this team come to think of it. Physical PF that can rebound.

New Orleans took the lead for good on Dickau's running layin, putting the Hornets ahead 65-64 and drawing loud boos from the sellout crowd of 18,148. Once the Hornets were ahead, Andersen and Brown seemed to come down with every missed shot or free throw, preventing Houston from mounting a comeback.

``That was only because Yao wasn't out there,'' Andersen quipped.

because the true diehards will want to se for themselves how it went...they dont depend on box scores or message board posts to tell them since stats dont tell the whole story and message board posters are not necessarily the best source for the true scoop.

I actually have talked to the folks from out of town after a bad game before..and very few of the true diehard fans said they had no interest.

now...whether or not I post it here is still up in the air.

I might start a poll to see how it goes...that allows the folks that dont care to post to make their feelings known a say in it

it's not like you were the only one or this topic has not been beat to death.
the problem is that we just were never in a position to acquire him.

clearly if we had yao this game wouldn't have even been close, just his presence and the opponents knowledge of his ability to score frees up all of his teammates. this should point out how important he is even when he's not having a big offensive night.

nonetheless, without yao, we should have pushed on that 18 point lead and won. the hornets are terrible, most everything they did tonight was a result of the rockets pathetic effort and not really something you want to see going into the postseason. lets see if we can pick it back up against the suns.

    Huh?

Chris Anderson would have fouled Yao out??? The guy may be an athletic dunker and rebounder but aren't we going a bit too far here? The guy doesn't start on the worst team in the league. Why is Yao even in the league if it's so easy to render him useless. I garner from this post, that all it takes is a zone defense from the worst team in the league. Throw in a Chris Anderson and you can just forget about it. I suppose someone who sucks against Yao - like Amare - should watch some film of Chris Anderson.

It's funny how a lot of people here consider Juwon's absence to be a bad thing but the moment someone mentions Yao's absence as a possible contributing factor to a loss - the haters come out in droves (okay - maybe just a few loud haters).

I wonder if its anti-YOF backlash or anti super big guys or anti chinese or whatever but it seems ridiculous sometimes. Even the mention that Yao should play more minutes or shoot the ball more or get better calls - brings out the bashing. I live in LA and Shaq always got his fair share of bashing from haters too - but never was it to this extent. Even his detractors admitted that he was, in fact, a good player.

We lost one that we should have won now we have to win one we should lose, beat the Suns on Sunday.

Yes we should have won this game without Yao, we had an 18 point lead late in the 3rd and just let NO steal one, but not having Yao made a big difference. It changed the whole game offensively, Deke never got deep low post position like Yao does, Deke was taking hook shots from the free throw line so we missed the big mans low post presence along with his screens and picks, the inside outside game. We also missed him in the 4th quarter, he has an outstanding 4th qtr shooting % and Deke got served in the 4th qtr probably because he was a little tired and normally would be on the bench in the 4th.

    Once and for all:

Yao & TMac are our franchise players. They're the most important players on Rockets. Rockets fans should considered themselves lucky they have two franchise players.

One mans meat is another mans poison. I liked the Big E, thought he could actually do color analysis for somebody. He would have to go to some diction school because he still has that Cajun down home way of speaking. But I liked his enthusiasm and insight on the game, nice since he probably didn't prepare much and he is not a pro.

Of course Yao is important! Even if he isn't involved in the offense his presence in the paint is extremely important

Him just standing there under the basket diverts alot of shots in the paint

We still should have beat the freakin NO Hornets!

yes...there actually was a few highlight moments from this dismal outing...unfortunately, the best ones were old footage of Big E (Elvin Hayes) from back in the day...

ANYONE that denies the absolute importance and necessity of Yao's presence/abilities on this team is an absolute idiot who should be immediately banned from the forum (OK, may be not banned :p ).

EVEN if Yao has 0 points, his mere presence and threat to the opponent helps out in every aspect of the Rockets' game plan.

Same exact thing with T-Mac, even if he ain't getting a single point, his mere presence makes him a "decoy" out there, mainly to get attention away from other players and make them effective.

Our two stars work best with one another, THAT is why they are BOTH (not one or the other) the foundation of this team.

Thank you for reiterating my point, that was all I was saying, and some oversensitive posters felt that I was saying that we "don't need Yao", which is the furthest thing from the truth.
