We played D for so long. They were great before. And suddenly drop down so deep. I just can't help suspecting that's Gundy's idea.

we lost this game, because we couldn't be comfortable with their hardnose defense, which we'd better be prepared for, we have to face hard defense in every playoff game.

I don't know, but since our shots have been off by our guards for a looong time now, I am suspecting that the tired legs might be the biggest explanation for this, especially since all our guards (pretty much) are like 34 or 35, with James and Sura in the early 30s as well.

I just can't find another explanation. I am sure lack of confidence that develops over time from missing your shots plays into it as well.

we simply beat ourselves. We need respect every team in this league. Saying Yao absence is BAd bad excuse. but ROX having two problems: After JH and yao out of game, we don't have any inside game, a pure jump team. our G do not have any pentration ability, someone got to help TMAC to attack the hoop!!!!

JVG's demeanor in the press conf said it all.

I think he wanted to go even further in his criticism, but held back a bit and cut the whole thing short so he can go into the locker room and blast those cocky idiots.

He blamed it on the "media mentality", I am guessing he meant the local media talk that the Rockets are a 'lock' for the playoffs and they want to play this team or that team, etc.

I agree, the players clearly bought into the media hype.

OK. They just need a talk with Gundy tomorrow like Yao did before Blazer game to get the confidence back. Do you believe it? For a long time we talk about this oldest(or most experienced in a good manner) team having consistency and self-adjustment. Now it's nowhere to see that advantage. Sad. So sad.

I really, really don't think this kid will be a superstar in this league.

We will see, time tells all...

I think the problem is not that they lack the confidence, but that they are 'overconfident' in their abilities to just turn it on and off whenever they want.

I guess that is the 82-game season for ya, ups and downs and all.

Playoffs will tell how good this team really is. A lot of teams tend to rest towards the end of the season to preserve energy, we will see if slacking off like this will lead the Rockets to play better in the playoffs.

Oh wow, the zone argument. And I thought Yao has been playing against zones for half a season. The zone IS the reason why Yao is 18 and 8 instead of 20+ and 9. It's also funny that you think that Chris Anderson would foul Yao out instead of the other way around, even with the screw jobs he gets consistently.

Spur had their players rest recently but they never did so sick job. A champ tema could've control their energy perfectly. I amn't a fan of spur but now I have to give them credits for keeping balance for ever.
I was hoping we could get champ for those old guns like Deke and Jon, but seems they don't have this luck.

I don't think anyone would compare us to the Spurs in ANY aspect of the game. It is no disrespect for the Rockets, but the Spurs are the best team in the West for a good reason, they just try hard everytime, they have almost military-like discipline that I don't think any other team in the league has.

Spurs are in a cetegory by themselves, I would say the Rockets are a top 8 team in the league, but I wouldn't say they are above the Mavs, Spurs, Heat, Pistons, etc.

Even with no Yao there is no excuse for losing tonights game. When you have an 18 point lead at home against the worst team in the league you have to win the game.

Hopefuly JVG chews out this team tonight and they come out ready to play on Sunday and get a W.

thank you for making my point for me and explaining that yao is better in man to man defense than zone defense...and yes if you watched an ounce of rocket ball this year you see that yao fouls out against smaller aggressive players who attack the basket. so yes thank you again

Look how well Weatherspoon played, I bet he's better than JH, I hope he can be consistent as playoff coming.

Don't look for any excuse, when we lost a game we were supposed to win.

there are a lot of teams play zon against Yao and he still can do it, what hell you think yao would be fouled out? it's rare yao got 6 foul on the home court. You must be a YAO hater and no confidence on him at all
