Definitely need to get rid of Brooks. He serves no purpose other than helping us lose

 

Stop it. Sengun has produced way more than Jalen's usually month long superstar spurt. He gets more leeway than Jalen. Sengun is the all A and B student that randomly got a C. Jalen is the C student who randomly gets a B, or even more rare an A (but in PE).

 

They essentially were playing a different rotation last night as Udoka opted not to play vets holliday and Green which were a big part pf their success last year. Instead he inserted Eason and Shepperd into the rotation which means the dynamics of this team has changed. It may take a while to develop the chemistry and Reed improves but still a concern since Reed isn’t there yet and there’s a logjam at the 3. The lineups weren’t right either with Cam at the 2

 

No “real” stars, just a roster full of role players. Is what it is, and shouldn’t expect too much. Mediocrity is the ceiling for this bunch. Can several of them be traded for star assets later? That’s always been the question

 

Maybe we need to send him to Florida to get his swing right

Udoka likely wanted to see what his lineups could give him. Hollins and Ackerman kept talking about Udoka tinkering with the lineups and still trying to find the best combinations. He played Jalen Sengun and FVV big minutes. Probably should have put in holliday or cam to replace Brooks and fred. Playing Shepherd substantial minutes seems to not be the solution and seems better to ease him in with less minutes if they want to win now.

 

Is Adams playing tomorrow? Soon?

 

Deeply unhappy with Dillon Brooks getting 31.5 minutes and FVV getting 37.5. They both stunk up the arena and Ime allowed them to stay in the game anyway. In general, Amen needs to be getting more run and those two need to play significantly less.

 

when he’s on he can shoot and active defensively and on breaks. But he wasn’t that last night. Not sure why Rockets play him in the post. Thats not his game

 

The lineups and lack of substitution was odd. Tells me Udoka is still feeling out these lineups. Implementing Tari and Shephard messes up the chemistry they had late last season a bit.

 

Few things from last night

1. Charlotte is not a bad team...they'll be top 10 in the east
2. Great first half for being 1st game of the season
3. Terrible second half for being 1st game of the season
4. Sengun was great, he looked much stronger than last year
5. FVV was atrocious..wasn't his night, bigger guys just pummeled him around
6. Brooks, was he even playing?
7. Jabari should just stick to rebounding and his mid range game. Anything else is a waste of time, he wont get better shooting the three
8. Jalen didn't look as good as preseason, looked more in control previous few games...
9. Questionable rotations, but its the first game so kind of understandable we will see these for a few more weeks
10 . This game should have been won. If we want to get better from last year this is something we can not allow.

Ultimate bummer when you have a team dead to rights and then relax and let them come back to win. Even worse for me was watching the clown ass clown LaMelo chirping all game only to be vindicated.

edit: why no Cam in the 2nd half when scoring became a problem?

 

At some point we need to kind of wrap our minds around the fact that maybe FVV/Jalen Green just aren't efficient shooters. If Amen Thompson walks into an open 3, is that a shot we want? We had an entire year's worth of data on the FVV/JG backcourt and it killed us again last night. Add in "bad Dillon" and you have a recipe for disaster against a team missing their starting center and their second best player missing the second half. FVV giving me Matt Schaub vibes.

This just looked the same as last year. Same inconsistent, spurty offense. And Sam basically saying Sengun should've had 35/18....jfc bro. DB/JG/FVV shouldn't be the chuck trio. Onto the next one. Let's hope Jalen can shoot above 40% in that one and FVV above 30%.
