Landry's role is perfect with Yao and Tmac drawing all the attention. He can even hit the midrange jumper if he doesn't drive for the dunk. Teams continue to disregard him and he becomes their poison. I think he will be a huge key to our success tomorrow.

i think head is better then brooksball thinks he is, but he generally makes me very nervous when he's out there, and i feel like i'm watching shades of cat and steve when he's playing with rafer. head has value in this league because of his excellent shooting, but i'm thinking more like 10 minutes a night then 20.

If Yao had one more rebound, we would have had four players in double-double figures.

    Luis Scola, PF 33 4-10 0-1 3-6 2 8 10 3 2 0 2 4 11
    Yao Ming, C 38 10-11 0-0 1-2 2 7 9 0 0 1 1 4 21
    Tracy McGrady, SG 39 8-19 1-4 6-7 1 2 3 10 2 0 1 0 23
    Rafer Alston, PG 37 6-14 3-7 1-2 0 6 6 11 2 0 3 2 16

    What a biased referee!

When was the last time Yao steped on the fine line only once for a whole game?

Scola got abused by West last time. Hope he'll do better this time around.

T-Mac took more close shots during that 1 of 9 second stretch than he did in the first 7 of 9 stretch. Not to mention, he shot 4 threes, and 2 of them were in the 7 of 9 stretch. Perception =/= reality.

The worst shot he took all night were when he had the shot, held the ball to try and keep the defender guessing, and shot it anyway. Think he did that twice, and missed both. One was a 3.

The team did what it had to do to win this game. I like the fact that they didn't slump in the fourth and they continue to find a way to win, this is a good sign.

People always say Yao should dunk it- but the only shot he missed (blocked by Marion) was a dunk - if he did a left handed lay-up - could have been an And 1

He's just not quick enough to dunk on people the way Amare or even Landry does

He ended up with 19 FGA, by far the most of anyone on the team. (Alston was second with 14 and then there were a bunch of guys with 9-11.) If you're going to shoot streaky the least you can do is realize when you're cooling off and change things up. I can't get down on T-Mac too hard though. He had two possessions in a row in the second. The first was a missed three. The second he got the ball back and drove.

I would also say that in the first quarter he caught the ball on the move and shot. Yeah, he might have been defended but usually the defender was trailing. Here's what Blinebury had to say:

"Where I do agree is that McGrady is getting his shots in transition and on the move. He's not dominating the ball, running down the clock and then heaving it up."

    http://blogs.chron.com/franblinebury/

By contrast in the second half I think he caught the ball and stared down his opponent way too often.

yea riley adjusted and doubled tmac WAY beyond the 3pt line in the pick and roll. i think when teams do that, we have to adjust with tmac by putting him through those screens.

i am. i'm just stating how some on this board expect us to play perfect every damn possession. and yet they saw how the spurs barely beat the wolves.

did u see the way this board was going when the lead got down to 8? unbelievable. it's like ONLY the rox let other teams go on runs

Carl Landry is going to be like an All-Star one day. He has the shot. He has the ups. He has strength.

I like the front court of Yao, Scola, and Landry!!

For whatever reason, T-Mac doesn't try to split those double teams. Most great wing scorers do that, but he never does.

i don't think bron does that at all. wade and iverson do that a lot though.

i think tmac and bron are too tall to split it and can't slide through the crack haha

I can respect that. The generalization of folks on the board that if T-Mac misses alot he must just be shooting J's from 22+ feet out really gets on my nerves, though. I mean, if you want to criticize, at least get it right. He got many of the same shots in teh 2nd half that he did in the first half, they just didnt fall. And yes, like I said before there were a couple times where he had the shot, hesitated, then shot anyway. I never like those kinda shots, but if he comes up off the pick and is open, shoot the ball. Unless of course you can find someone underneath for an even better look.

I think they were making a joke in reference to the Bonzi/Jackson trade. Someone commented that Bonzi was traded to NO, and guess what? They play NO tomorrow. Then someone made a joke about Bonzi being able to bum a ride on the team flight. I think it was a joke, but I wasn't quite paying attention.
