If you're going to complain about this game the biggest issue is the lack of mental focus/discipline when the Rockets build a lead. Alston just kind of falls apart once he takes his foot off the pedal. T-Mac was 7 of 9 early and ended up 8 of 18 because he decided that a big lead meant a green light to fire away from downtown. The Heat deserve credit for playing tough, but it would have been nice to see the Rockets put their foot down and blow them out by 20+.
Mark my words, the spurs will not win the championship this year. They are too old, and not talented enough compared to some other teams in the West. Parker is hurt, and without surgery, bone spur will not just disappear.
Dude, relax. They were just talking about how we made a trade with New Orleans, and now we play them the very next game. They weren't talkin ish.
I hope your being sarcastic. Its hard to beat any team by 25-30. It doesn't even matter if they are the worst team in the league. They have 2 allstars and many shooters and a championship coach. The spurs weren't focused...common with the west in a flurry of trades and amazing teams you think they gonna loose an easy one?
Just a finisher? It's hard to find a finisher in today's NBA. We need 3 finishers when Yao and Tmac are on the court.
But you still have the option to throw the ball Bonzi on the block when the offense is stagnant and ask him to create. You can't do that with Landry. Bonzi has gotten much better lately. He is a proven scorer in the playoffs with a very cheap contract. It'll be too much to ask Landry, a rook, to take that role in the PO.
I thought the Heat made some good defensive adjustments that got us out of our rhythm, like trapping the PnR. Every team should do that against T-Mac, because we never handle it well.
Absolutely. This is the one thing that I really like about the trade. B-Jax gives us a cerebral player who can play in pressure situations. Head can't even dribble up court without turning it over....and don't get me started on his disappearing act last year in the playoffs.
10 in a row, great 1. Why Tmac handle more ball in second half? I feel this make him back to old Tmac.... lower percent jump shots. 2. Good fourth q, no force to pass to our two stars and everyone scores. 3. Landry.. WOW. 4. Rafer and Tmac have a perfect first half, but second half is so so. 5. Head, AB, Novak need contribute more. 6. Scola is ok. 7. SB played great. 8. Yao is normal, block again by Matrix. don't like it. B to B to play New Oleanse, tough game. real test. Big game. Must win. Go Rockets
Actually most guys in the NBA are finishers i.e. they can't create their own shot, but then can make dunks or open shots. Landry can't create his own shot yet, but he might develop into a good post guy. Nevertheless, Yao is still going to be the only post option.
Agreeeed, Landry is that around the rim beast we've sorely needed. He picks up all the misses by Yao/T-mac/Rafer and finishes them.
Very true. Think of it this way: Yao Ming means you can throw the ball within 2 feet of the basket vertically, and he can catch it and toss it in for you. Carl Landry means you can throw it within 10 feet of the basket horizontally, and he can dunk it one step. When you have guys like McGrady and Alston handling the ball, every hookup between those passers and those finishers is 2 points.
Yeah, there's no doubt that Riley adjusted well. The Rockets still have a problem with intensity though. It's like they don't understand sometimes that every team is going to try something new when they're getting blown out. If they adjust to match you then you've similarly got to change to match or beat their adjustments. And if they decide to get physical or turn up the intensity you've got to keep pace. The Heat tried that tonight and Scola, Battier and Landry just wouldn't have any of that.
Take it easy on Luther, people. He had a couple of big plays in the 4th. He came up with a steal and got fouled at the other end for free throws. Then after nearly turning the ball over, he hit a 3-pointer with the shotclock about to expire to stop the Heat's momentum. Anyway, 10 wins in a row! Tomorrow's game is huge. If the Rockets get that one, they've got a shot at really making a run up the standings over the next 3 weeks. Plus they could have 16 straight wins going into Dallas on March 6.
No question. That's what we sorely missed last year, a second post presence. Juwan was a jumpshot guy.
its hard to believe that a palyer that is earning around 400k is helping us so much talk about a STEAL
