second time this year i remember him dunking anyways the way this game turned out was good since it was a W, but the defense was not there and the outside shooting fell tonight. It is not going to always be there of course. figure its the first game back from a long break I am sure JVG will chew into the guys soon enough. I really hope the guys arent just saying we just need to hold the fort a bit now till yao is back since its nearing rather than wanting all the ws they can get I dont think jvg will let them get into that mode of course, but i cant help but think that if this game was in miami or if wade wasnt hurt it would have been a lot closer. The heat defense started playing the lanes really well and exposed our lack of inside scoring. trying to get the ball to bonzi into the post resulted into some poor plays, TOs quick collapses.
Great win!!! and rafer was on fire today!!! Bonzis first 3pointer as a Rockets and just happens to be 70 footer!!!
It was very evident that Luther Head can't handle the role of backup Point Guard. Do you think that JVG will notice and do anything about it ? No !
question for everybody: just by watching, it seemed like this game got pretty intense and that the players got into it in terms of talking a little ****. Like t mac at the foul line when he talked the whole time, or when he went and talked to shaq when shaq was shooting free throws. Is there beef there? when talking about "the kiss" , i seem to remember t-mac wouldn''t say what it was really about, saying something to the effect that the reporters ought not know what was said" or some such
Exactly. The way they stiffled our offense was by using Shaq to double Tmac off screans, even 30 ft from the basket. Teams simply cant do that with Yao in the game, so if we can score 100+ like this, imagine what we can do with Yao in the game.
this is his second year so lets give him a break! in time his bball IQ will increase and playing with two great passers like tmac and rafer, he will learn fast!!
He said that Shaq's comment was too controversial or something for the media. I'm speculating that Shaq was kidding around after he kissed him and probably said something about being himself being gay. (In reference to the recent news with Amaechi and Hardaway's comments)
uh, w/ yao in the game, they still double tmac like crazy off the screens. the thing that yao does help w/ tracy is that you can't double tracy WITHOUT the ball like the mavs did. but even w/ yao, tracy gets doubled like crazy. they even leave yao to double tracy off the pick and roll. they just rotate another guy to yao.
I think JVG already knows but the problem is that there is no real backup PG so it makes sense to play him instead for now. like i said there is no other choice and jvg is not going to let tmac be PG we've all seen that, tmac need his rest he can't do anything! thats why I think CD is looking for a backup PG but lets see what happens tomorrow!
Well, Lakers continue on with their losing ways tonight (Blazers). Even Kobe can't save them these days, and PJax after the game just sat there on the bench, staring at his players in disgust as they walked off the court. It's probably safe to say the Lakers will make a move or two before the deadline tomorrow...
GREAT WIN! look at next 5: 02/23 @ATL 7:30pm 02/25 @ORL 2:00pm 02/26 BOS 8:30pm 02/28 TOR 8:30pm 03/02 @DEN 9:00pm W,W,W,W,W ? HOU W6
Luther Head's handles are adequate enough for the single-minded purpose of driving past a guy to the rim (when he does). His quickness helps with that also. Bsically he's got 2 guard slasher type handles. His point guarding handles and passing is really subpar. Some guys just can't dribble, see the court and be aware all at the same time. He has everywhere to go but down but I don't see drastic improvement from what Head's shown at point so far but I hope I'm wrong. "Floor General" is the LAST thing I think of with him running a team. Get a backup point guard, but don't deal away Snyder or Bonzi if that's possible..
Close game! If Wade was not injured or Shaq was not taken out of game by Riley, the result could be different. Riley tried to protect Shap I guess since Wade was already injured and Shaq had not fully recovered. The game changed in the second half for two reasons. One is that Heat intensified their defense. It looked like they could predict TMac's passes and caused TMac 7 TOs. Another one is that our rotation really got tired at the end. I could feel JVG tried to win as many games as possible during Yao's absence by playing the games very conservatively. It makes our rotation small. This is a double-face blade and it's hard to judge whether it is correct or not. In one hand, Rockets stayed in front running to playoff. In another hand, the starters will get very tired before playoff begins and bench is not developed. Another I noticed during the past few games is that the opponents defend TMac's passes better. They must have studied Rockets tapes very carefully. The great games played by Rockets since Yao's injury, I think, is mainly due to TMac's healthier back, his larger confidence, and his amazing passes. He makes his teammates better. Thus, when he is intensely defended, Rockets offense suffers. It becomes more predictable like offense starts from Yao. JVG and his coach staff need find a way to combine both TMac and Yao's offenses nicely after Yao comes back. If it can be figured out, Rockets will be unbeatable. But it looks difficult from the games before Yao's injury. On the Heat side, Wade is a warrior and team leader. It's a pity he got injured. Wade, Shaq, and Kapono kept Heat in game. Kapono is a great shooter.
Yeah, that's annoying. The game wasn't ever really close. The Rockets led by double digits most of the game, and the Heat could only get it about as close as 9. We know the truth, though. Again, REALLY FUN GAME TO WATCH!
I watched SC and it wasn't like that at all. They showed our highlights (mostly T-Mac), the Shaq "finger wag' at Deke, the Wade injury, and then just mentioned that we won the game. I didn't detect any attempt to 'downplay' the win or anything like that. But it's not in the least bit surprising that when arguably the best perimeter player in the game gets injured (possibly for the remainder of the season) that it would dominate the news...this is a VERY big development in the NBA, it could literally alter the entire outlook of the playoffs this season. Wade's injury is as big a development as you can get, perhaps outside of a major 'blockbuster' trade before the deadline tomorrow...
Watching Shaq do the finger wave was too funny. It humors me to think how scared and unproductive he would have been had Yao played.
Great game tonight. I'm surprised they didn't go to Shaq more, especially with how well he started playing down the stretch. I hope Wade's ok, but man, I was getting annoyed with how he started whining several play in a row about not getting foul calls, even though he 1. was making baskets, and 2. had already been to the line on multiple occasions in the third. I thought that was about to change the game.
Just got back from the game and the bars. Another great win. The countdown for Yao to come back has started. Amazing that the rockets only won 34 games all of last year. What a difference a year makes.
