Pick and roll? It never works on the Rox team. Our guards would like somebody to set a pick, but then they never pass the ball. It has nothing to do with Yao, it is just the way it works whether it is Yao or MoT or EG who set the pick.
Why would you care if Yao only got 7 shots when the team wins?!!!!! If Stevie Franchise, or Cuttino Mobley only got 7 shots tonight I would not be complaining....YOU KNOW WHY?.....Because we WON!!! A win is a win. Give the team, the server, and us a break. Stop the complaining. THE TEAM WON! I could careless how many touches/shots a player gets, as long as the TEAM wins. It's about the TEAM. Not a PLAYER.
Yao is very efficient on both sides of the floor, so I dont mind if he only takes 7 shots. Now he has 17 blocks in 6 games; that's No. 6 in the NBA? I mean, all Ben Wallace does is rebounds and blocks, and Yao has far more offensive skills and can have 30 points game if he wants to.
So it is only about Yao Ming. You have exposed yourself once again. You could care less how the Rockets do, all you want to see is Yao succeed. How can you be surprised when people question your motives with posts like the one above?
Now it comes the stretch where we play 8 out of next 10 games on the road. Looking at the teams, I would be satisfied if we come out of it with 6 - 4 records. Anything better will truly indicate that we have come a long way since last year. Yao actually earned more fantasy points today with NBA Virtual GM's scoring system than Shaq did last night.
Because you're shortsighted. Rockets will lose 7 out of 10 games if Yao only got 7 shots. Rockets will be a lottery team again if Yao only got 7 shots. Rockets will have no way to go but down if Yao only got 7 shots. The only chance for rockets to be a contender is to get Yao involved in almost every play. Yao need to get at least 20 touches in the offense side per game.
Not a guarantee! You gotta take what the oppenents defense gives you. If they go to a single defender, then drop it down to Yao. If they double or triple team Yao, then let the open man take a shot.
I don't agree. Your logic sounds very solid, but are bullshxt in essense. Only short-sighted ppl say this. The following analogy might not be very appropriate, but still can easily retort you. Say a house have some fundamental problems and require some serious rebuilding work. Unfortunately earthquakes are frequent in that eare. Oneday earthquake came and the house luckily survived. Now mimicing your mindset, a survival is a survival, why still complaining the building? Who care about the re-constructuring if we survived this time? I'd like to say, in the long run, you will pay for this kinda shortsightedness.
Not necessarily. I love to see Yao become a 20/10/3 guy, but everything depends on how he gets his shot attempts. I didn't watch today's game, but from following the live update, it seems Yao is very actively defensively, and we shot well when Yao is in the game. That means Yao is effective both sides. 12/10/5 works just fine with me too. I wouldn't mind trading 5 points for 2 more blocks. Remember, Yao had a lot of 3 for 11, 5 for 15 games after the all-star break last year when he was tired and still taking all those 15-footers. As long as guys are getting open shots, driving to the hoop, no 1-on-1 dribbling for 20 seconds, getting transition basket, our offense will be fine. And our defense is scarily good.
good grief, yao only fans, please, please go away. some of you are either really stupid or are just not watching the games at all.
Since he had 7 fga +7 fta, that means he shot around 10 times. He also had 2 turnovers. Now, assuming he passed at least 8 times, then he got his 20 touches.
To all the fans quibbling about Yao's stats: Guys, we're only six games into the season. There are 76 more games to go. Yao has plenty of nights to score lots of points. Steve and the Cat aren't going to be able to score lots of points every single night, and the hot streak won't be with them every single night. In fact, they'll probably have 15-16 point games like Yao every so often, if not in a streak, and Yao will have his hot-streaks, and then his not so hot streaks. Some posters here are lamenting about Yao's stats as if the end of the season was right around the corner. Well, that would be kind of cool, actually. Since we're number one in the Western Conference right now, if the season were to end tomorrow, we would have the number 1 playoff seed and home court advantage.
Also remember Yao has 18 shot attempts against Orlando. So I really think people should stop complaining Yao being frozen out. It's just one game. Also Cat is shooting better than 50% from the floor too, and I think he benefits from Yao in the middle, and it's great to see that he takes advantage and go off for 30 tonight. We can start this subject when/if we have a three games losing streak and Yao is averaging only 7 shots in the span. I dont think Dallas is going to score over 100 on us. Today is against a run-and-gun Hornets team. How many points did they score against a Spurs team without Duncan?
Most fans look forward to being in the playoffs again. They don't really give a rats ass who's strutting what stuff. Yao got a lot of attention from Miami tonight (for some reason) and the Rockets had a good balance of guard play and still trying to work the post. One of the best plays of the night involved Francis being caught in the corner in transition, passing out to Cat who waited for Francis to get out of the corner, then passed back to Francis who threw an entry pass to Yao who was crowded by defenders, and Yao then passed to Cat for a wide open three. That was simply beautiful basketball. They didn't play that well on every trip down the court but that was awesome to watch. Cat did freelance a little more than he should normally but the guy was hot and Yao was being crowded with defenders. I have a lot of trepidation about the hot shooting getting to our guards and having them go selfish but I don't think that was the case tonight. They played solid ball and the defense had a lot of energy.
Yetti, Check this thread out... Look at Yao (doubled and a sagging tripple team). http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=68120 Yao causes mismatches for some teams, other teams they just doube team him all day. That's why we have guards and fowards. For just this reason.
Im really getting sick of ready thru game reports and reading "pro-ming" posts. Time to start mass ignoring on pro ming people The rockets wernt a bad team the last 3-4 years. The world "lottey" is a negtive word. We had low picks in them. Not like we won like 10 games. They won over 30 games so thats alot better then nuggets etc. The rockets are winning. If it takes the guards to win it, so be it. If it takes Yao then let it be. You need to have a offense that is hard to read, and not predictable. There is notin wrong with mixing up the Offense. Iso's etc. ISO's take alot of heat, yet not many players can take on his man 1v1 and win. Its a Skill thats not easy to learn. Players who create there own shots, are coverted in the nba. So Yao only fans, back off, and enjoy the rockets winning.
Don't complain TOO much, please. They play well, they play hard and they play like a TEAM. That's why we could see this unbelievable standings now! A League Leader!
