Yao will be good, very good. But I really doubt he will dominant in the future. That means no championship for Houston.
why is boki being used as a 3pter. i thought he was scouted by the rox for his aggressiveness closer to the basket?
i like how mobley played under control and took good quality shots...jvg has done a real good job in communicating to the guards that less dribbling is better... i thought Yao played huge tonite, for those that did not watch the game, the numbers do not do Yao enough justice...a big reason why our guards got so many shots was because of Yao's presence in the paint...if the Heat, or any team for that matter want to clog up the paint and not get Yao his touches thats fine, our guards will burn 'em...Yao smacked 7 back, many of these blocks were of the 'ill serve you leather variety', this really demoralised the heat...they wanted to take it into the paint, and thats what you get... im really liking JVG
Wow! I think they had 9 at the half. Maybe they had a "little talk" in the locker rooms at half time.
I do not necessarily agree with that observation. With our team chemistry getting better and better, I do think we have the core for a championship team. You don't need to have one player scoring 50 points each game to be a champion these days. Unlike the old days, it is difficult for a centre to do that with the zone defence rule. Even Shaq could average 22 points, not 28 career point. Rather, you prefer to have a more balanced attack. If you look at SA last year, you will see that. Yes, Duncan is important for their win, but without Robertson, Tony Parker and Ginobili, etc. it is a so-so team.
possibly, but six consecutive awesome defensive performances means something. Also, many of these scrub teams BEAT us last year (Chicago beat us on the road, Miami beat us at home)
Some perspective on the performances of the Rockets' main men. Yao Efficiency=28 in 32 minutes Cat Efficiency=27 in 41 minutes Steve Efficiency=12 in 39 minutes They are a team. What's important is the win.
You need a dominant inside presence to win a championship, Shaq is, Duncan is, Yao isn't, unless you think SF and Cat is as good as MJ.
Good. While I like all three of them, we have to give a fair unwritten credit to Yao, who was double teamed most of the time even before he touched the ball while the other two benefited from that with open shots. That should not rule out the excellent plays of our guards who burnt the other teams for doubling Yao. We have to recognize not many teams in the league could hit the open shots.
Who is the PLAYER of the game? Yao or Cat? I choose Yao because of his contribution in both offense and defense. GO Rockets!
