Atlanta can play. Jeff is doing some good work at the pg spot and guys like Smith or Horford haven't picked it up yet. They actually seem to be better defensivly so this will be a pretty difficult game for the Rockets.

As for McGrady, he played like crap (no effort) yesterday so maybe he will find some more motivation tonight. Should be a fun game.

I declare this day: Tracy McGrady day on account that it's the last day of the year.

Don't really care as much about wins/loss after last blowout game. I just want the guys to go out there and compete. What a sad state of being.

I'll be watching this game with a bag of popcorn. Interesting to see how the crowd will receive McGrady.

A good matchup b/t Teague and Lowry, 2 up-and-coming PGs proving themselves. We need our depth for this game, b/c ATL has a lot.

I want to see more Parsons and Morris and less Bud and TWill. McHale is doing the right thing easing them in though.

Also, can we stop the JHill experiment at C please? Start Dalembert or PatPat.

In fact, just stop giving Hill minutes altogether.

Agree about Hill would like to see Thabeet backing up Dalembart, but Parsons is a stretch 4 for the most part, and Morris is not ready.

I want TWill and Bud to get a real opportunity, 30 mins for one of them....don't care who, but one needs to get significant minutes, because Piece meal is not working out.

The way Parsons can handle the ball and the way he was driving, I don't really see him as a stretch 4. He doesn't exactly have the strength to guard 4's.

I don't really have a problem with a piecemeal approach either. Guys like Lowry, PatPat, and even Bud excelled in roles with limited minutes. Until one of them stands out, this will probably continue.

Jordan Hill had such a good training camp and preseason that its tough to see McHale giving up on him just yet. I think he still has a few games to win the starting nod. It really doesnt matter anyways, Dalembert cannot play 35+ minutes yet anyways.

I like having the solid Vet center coming off the bench with the less experienced 2nd team, and Jordan is going to need to give the Rockets minutes at the 5 either way.

However, if Jordan has a couple more games like last night then its inevitable that he goes to the bench eventually.

The nice thing about this team is the 2nd team and even some 3rd string players could be starters on almost any other NBA team.

-For tonight, I think this is a game that the Rockets must win in this first 10 game series this is one of the 4 or 5 that are winnable. Morey himself said that they would be in a good position if they won 3 to 5 of their first 10 games.

    -Key matchups-

Johnson Vs. Martin. -Johnson can be unstoppable against smaller SG's that cant handle a more physical game. Can Martin finally turn the corner on defense and prove that he is capable of stopping a top SG?

Josh Smith Vs Scola - Scola has always done his thing against Smith on offense, but on defense he needs to find a way to force him to be a jump shooter and live with the results. Keep him immobile and dont let him get on the offensive glass where he can hurt you. I look for Scola to come out firing after a rare poor performance in Memphis last night.

Bench Play - Houston should have a major edge here. If the starters can keep the game close, the bench will need to come out aggressive and hit some shots

    Houston should win tonight 99 - 95.

He will be Horry or Ryan Anderson like.....he is way too slow to guard most of the 3s in the league.

Either way, 3 or 4, he is looking pretty decent.
