ClutchFans Game Thread: Grizzlies @ Rockets 11/01/2003

I think this could be a close game and the Grizzlies have a chance to win it, just like any NBA team can sneak up on any other NBA team on any given day.

Having said that, I think this is a statement game for the Rockets. I'm sure a lot of you are still thinking of the Grizzlies as being the same old terrible team, but there have been one or two publications that have picked the Grizzlies to actually beat out the Rockets for the 8th seed this year. The Rockets need to come out and dominate the less talented Memphis team. We've heard about Francis' improved D, and it would be nice to see him put the clamps down on J-Dub and make him the turnover machine that he was back in Sacramento.

The Rockets could easily blow the Grizzlies out of the water or lose this game depending on the attitude of our players as they take the court.

SCF's keys to victory:

Yao must stay out of foul trouble.
Fewer turnovers than the Denver game.
10 boards by Cato.
At least 4 players in double figures.

 

I predict that MemphisX will still be a dumbass, myopic troll after this game is over...

 

if yao gets three blocks, we win. Siamese skyscrapers crush their front line.

We always have real close games with the Grizz that go down to the wire, but Yao just wont be stopped. 19 points in 20 minutes(!), if he stays out of foul trouble tonight and gets his time, Memphis has nothing to stop him. Both these teams are loaded with depth I believe, the bench should be a key for both teams tonight.

 

How could I forget to say Rockets win though, no matter what happens.

Rockets: 90
Grizzlies: 86

 

I bet anything Posey will be covering Cat tonight because there is no way h*ll that Miller can do it. He is way too slow. If Cat is feeling it tonight, watch him get 30 pts while going to the line about 12-14 times because Posey can't cover Cat either.

Leading scorers again will be Cat and Yao who will combine for 50+ pts. Cato will also get 15 boards in this game.

The Grizz only shot 37% from the field against the Boston Celtics last night. Stromile Swift was the only Grizz to shoot 50% or better and I think it is safe to say that he will not have the same kind of success against Yao Ming and Kelvin Cato as he did against Vin Baker and Reaf LaFrentz.

The Rockets have had a day to rest and go over the things they did wrong against the Nuggz plus their first game / new arena jitters are now behind them. The Grizz had to take a late night flight into Houston after an emotional game that they should have won.

I expect Yao to stay out of foul trouble in this game and to dominate for a full 30 plus minutes to night putting up singificant numbers. Steve Francis will put on a show against the matador defensive style of JWill.

Yao will again be in foul trouble today because Memphis's big men are too quick for Yao. I can see Yao having a game very similar to the Denver game, limited minutes, but good shooting.
The guy I can see surprising us with a lot of points is Jim Jackson. Its going to be close, but I think the Rockets will pull it out.

Jason Williams always gives Franchise a hard time. Franchise has trouble with small quick guards with handles. (Parker, Starbury, Nash and White Chocolate)

I tried all those link before and was unable to get any of them to work.

I have 3 audio links (Warriors, Sonics and Celtics) right now that do work and maybe a forth one tonight (Grizzlies). If you want I can post them now so you can save them or put them on the site. Or I can just wait until The Rockets play those teams and just post them in the game threads then.

i dont think yao will have as much foul trouble.....if our damn gaurds can wait for him to set the pick before turning the corner...yao got called for 1 or 2 of those last game.

The Rockets will play pathetic defense today, as they always do against the Grizzlies. This will be the first of many losses to crap teams, and start a six game losing streak. Basically, this game will be the beginning of the end of the Rockets' season.
