Cmon guys. The grizz played some tough D and our guards took too long to setup the offense. That and we missed a lot of layups and dunks. Most people that defend Yao just front him, I don't understand why our players can't throw a decent lob-pass while Yao shields off his man for the easy layup/dunk...he could've done that many times today, and that would make defenders think twice about fronting him when he's getting position. Is it really that hard?

That damn Wright played like an Allstar tonight. Of course Yao didn't contest a single one of his shots when he was shooting lights out. Thats the one knock on Yao...he never seems to defend the perimeter, ever. Other than that he's eiiight. ;)

By the 4th Q the guys were tired. That was partly due to Mem but also it is a reflection of the type of game that Van Gundy wants to run. I would say that based on the fact that so many people are out, he should back off of having the team run so much.

This is the kind of game that Braggs should have played and Amechi too. For all of those who think EG cannot help this team, you are out of your mind. MoT was horrible. So was Moochie. Those are the contracts we should be worrying about instead EG's.

Yao's always had trouble with the lob... he may be tall, but he has short arms, and the guys guarding him can usually jump higher that Yao's hands. Also because of Yao's height, the lob has to be arced higher, so it'll get to him more slowly.

    1. The griz played us like a fiddle......great D....this tape will get play around the league on how to beat the rockets. If Moochie Norris continues to be in the game when the press is on, forget it...game over....

    2. Ming needs more shots. granted, the griz did a great job at denying it, but that does not mean we do not find another way.

    3. If teams are going to play Houston like this--denying Ming like this because the Griz have the playbook complete on how to play Ming....we better find a consistent shooter real fast. Piatkowski will help in this area.

    4. Too much dribbling tonight--back to old rockets

    5. Where was the adjustment on Lorenzo....I know it was shocking, but once he had three in a row, you have to adjust to his heat...he was hot

    6. We did play good defense tonight....just the Griz played better and we did not adjust....Ming is 7'6"..this was either poor execution or bad coaching on our end combined with great defense.....

    7. Very dissappointing defeat, but a lesson learned early.....we can play all the D we want, but we need to learn more ways to get Ming his shots and find a consistent shooter, because we missed a lot of wide open looks.....

    Reason Rockets lost:

Too many damm turnovers once again!!!!!!!
Giving up too many 2nd chance shot!!
Too many easy layups...(how can they get easy layups with Ming in there...I don't watch the game so i don't know...i am puzzled).

That's why Grizzlies got soo many shots compare to Rockets.

Id rather have swift than mobley. Griz were about to cut Swift last year and I was mad the rox werent interested.

    swift>taylor,cato,braggs,griffin
    posey>jim jackson
    battier>mobley

thats why I believe memphis will beat us out of 5th spot. I tried being optimistic about a playoff spot, but that isnt reality. reality is that this team(and fans) have a false sense of being good after beating sucky denver twice and kings twice without webber. The rox will be 1w 4L this time next week

I am not horribly angry about this loss. The Rockets hustled all four quarters, its just they missed TONS of lay-ups and basically pressed too hard. The Memphis defense didn't help either, they did an excellent job of pressuring the ball and denying the pass to the post. I did not see a lack of effort on Houston's part although, I must agree with many posters here that Moochie is about the most turnover prone piece of NBDL wanna-be garbage to ever grace the association.:( :( :(

rept: this was a D battle...when you hold a team to the 70s, you should win every time, unless they play better D and we let them dictate the tempo.....

the turnovers were major...you can point directly to this, but layups....not really...the score was so low that layups were just a part of the type of game this was....

bottomline: we saw some old rockets action and did not convert our opportunities, turnver the ball over too much and let them dictate the flow....

you have to give it up to Memphis....sometimes this happnes, but should not on your own floor in the second game....

Norris has to be gone, we need more consistent shooting to draw the d out...they dared us to shoot over the top....

steve and mooch sure botched that 2 on 1 fast break, didnt they?

one play that really pissed me off was where Posey was chasing steve, and steve is just nonchalantly dribbling the ball. Posey just came and easily picked his pocket, and i saw it coming a mile away. the fans have gotta help steve on that one. oh, or a teammate coulda said something.

Rocketforlife...you are dead on....we just got sucked into their tempo...Van gundy is going ballistic right about now....

Norris is a mess.....he will be benched by the 10the game if his play continues

Rockets have to dictate more and do not tell me you cannot get Ming the ball more to shoot.

Memphis played hard, I am not sure if they are better...but theyplayed as hard as they are going to...and Lorenzo had a game of his life.....not going to happen again anytime soon

Sweetie: I doubt they will 1-4, but 3-2 or 2-3 is definitely a possibility, but then we are only talking a 1 game swing....

Sorry for the double post, I just wanted to chime in again on JVG's substitution pattern. Why the hell does he keep taking Francis out and letting Mooch in? We had the lead by 5, then he took Francis out and we went down for good! Steve can handle 45 minutes! Just keep Moochie off the court, especially towards the end of games.

Man if we would of forced feed yao in the paint we would had 35+ turnovers, they tried to give yao more than enough touches but were denied. The griz played great D and rockets played great defense too but couldn't get break the press early enough but I give all credit to the griz they adjusted during the first minutes when yao was looking to murder them in the paint. You win some you lose some.

our players need to realize that when yao is being anally pushed around in the paint, steve and cat need to take over the game

JVG is still trying to figure out what works and not...I promise you, Moochie is heading for the bench permanently if his play continues....he should not have been in there during the 4th quarter at all....abosutely not....That was a huge mistake by JVG, but JVG is still trying to see what he has....give it 2-3 more game sand you may see a totally different rotation...

their hot list right now is a backup guard...I guarantee it...someone who can handle pressure and stay mature and not cost us....Jackson woul dhave been cool...even Ward...

Watch his rotations in the next 5 games if they do not win more....it will change....

Teammate should of helped him but he should of known better to protect the ball but Steve played good tonight, he actually is playing like a point guard.

C'mon, some of you are overreacting. We had a bad game, yes, but better that these kinds of losses happen early in the season so we can make adjustments. Don't forget we still have some key players out right now too...
