We also need a backup for yao asap. if moutombo was there tonight, there is noway gasol would have got so many offensive boards. we lack height, shotblocking and rebounding behind yao. granted yao plays pretty soft himself.

It's disappointing to see Barry constantly moving without the ball at his age while McGrady is often just standing around.

I understand that Mac is still not at 100% but this is nothing new.

Hopefully, Artest can motivate McGrady to work harder once he is fully recovered. The problem is that when Tracy pushes it, the risk of injury increases.

I agree. I think Artest will get more assertive on the offensive end when he gets more comfortable with his teammates and that will hopefully get Tmac more active on both ends.

I thought tmac was active on defense tonight. he was getting after the loose balls and had 3 steals. he also steppedup in the last few minutes in the end to help us get the win. he also looked good when we posted him up. his latteral movement is still heavily effected, but that will come.

Yes, Rockets need Mutombo now. Even if he play only 5 minutes per game. That means Yao only need to play 33 minutes, not 38 minutes per game.

Grizzlies is going to be a tough team to beat later the season. They got tri-tower, and can keep twin tower on the court any time. Once Marc Gasol and Hamed Haddadi get use to the NBA rule. Plus Mayo and Gay.....

this was EXACTLY the type of game i expected tonight and i wouldn't have even been shocked had we lost. did anyone watch the preseason? it was ugly and i think it'd be silly to expect a huge improvement since then. until we get regular reps with yao/tracy/ron/shane it's going to be a work in progress. adelman warned that we weren't anywhere close to where we want to be.

battier fixes a lot of defensive problems. he's a huge miss. brooks is missed but we can look good without him also, see last season.

essentially we're taking what was a smooth looking team in the second half of last season and adding two players who both command the ball in artest and yao, in addition to trying to incorporate more of what coach wants. we have enough talent to win while we work out the kinks but expect it to look like this for at least another month if not more. as long as we can squeak out some w's we should be a well-oiled machine after the break and heading into the playoffs and that's what you want.

first game of the season people. adelman has been saying this for weeks: the offense is just not there yet. the main guns have not played together much.

furthermore, tracy's lateral movement/quickness is just not there. adelman needs to know that and don't put him at the top of the key much. i like the post ups. he missed some easy shots but those were good shots. he should make those if he takes it again. he did step up late in the 4th with 2 huge baskets.

yao did great. he still didn't get position as often as i would like but considering this is his first reg. season game since his injury, he played superb.

offense will come. i have no problem about that. our offensive greatness is seen in spurts. but it will come.

WTF you talking about. didnt you see how many offensive boards they got? especially gasol?. thats because once yao sat on the bench, chuck hayes was the backup center. he was to short. against teams like that you need someone like deke.

ok well...i agree with both of you

we need defense- yes we did give up a lot of offensive boards.....

we also NEED offense- look at the freaking score...it was the most boring rockets game i've been to besides all the other fun stuff...we can't score..i dont udnerstand how we cant score with tmac-yao-artest on the floor so we need to improve this here

That would be irrelevant if the team hit their shots......holding an NBA team to 71 points is outstanding....

    In fact...it leads the NBA......again !!

    :D

And if Adelman would have played Scola more in the 4th quarter they would have had less rebounds.

Rafer with a big three to seal it, remaining confident after a bad shooting night.

are people complaining about the D? our defense has rarely been a problem.
