He was better than the numbers. Nearly all of his scores came from offensive rebounds. He got 0 assists from teammates. Once teammates get familiar with him, he can produce more. :p

Me thinks that we are NEVER going to see Yao and T-Mac on the floor at the same time for more than 25 games.

This loss is unacceptable. But what do you expect when your Jordan/Pippen, Shaq/Kobe out at the same time? With the other fillers...

Man, this is frustrating. I want the 3 seed! Now, T-Mac gets the flu and Yao might not be back until 2030!!!

    URGH!!!!!!!

I don't know, I don't necessarily agree that teams like the Suns or the Mavs are "still loaded" if you remove TWO superstars. For Phoenix, I think that they have an amazing team, but I think they have a great team that plays well and looks better BECAUSE of their superstars. Remove Nash and Amare from their team, and I think you'll find it very hard to play their style of basketball, and even harder to win. Same thing with Dallas, though that one's a little harder to argue, because they're incredibly deep.. However, remove Nowitski and Howard, and suddenly they're not nearly as good. I wouldn't call them still "loaded", no matter how deep their teams are. They look better because of their superstars, like I said.

This game proved in my mind that Spanoulis should be the point guard.

I don't know if Van Gundy or the fans defending him for not playing Spanoulis and bashing Spanoulis...............which one makes me sicker.

How the hell can JVG keep playing these idiots at PG when clearly the best PG is on the pine and PLEASE STOP anyone STOP saying Head is better at PG or Lucas than Spanoulis.

Anyone still clamoring that has been exposed.

I watched the game when we were up and then i flipped the channel to see us down. This is horrible.

    Battier 1-12 (0-5 from 3s)
Alston 1-11 (1-10!!!!! from 3s)...Needs to penetrate more especially in games like this.
    Head 3-11 (0-6 from 3s)

1-22 from 3s for the entire team?

Speechless. Atleast Bonzi played well though i hear his Defense was not good. and this loss should definetely give T-Mac more recognition for more MVP talks!

This is why I hated the Gay trade.

I have said this at least a dozen times here and never has anyone countered it.........

EVERY time Battier has choked in the playoffs EVERY time he left Gasol out to dry and EVERY time he sucked it up like no other as the Grizz went 0-12 in the playoffs.

THIS game is typical of what has happened to Battier in playoff games, I have always been attacked for suggesting this but this is an example of what kind of choking he brings.

The only thing I can reason is 90 percent of Rockets fans never watched his playoff games.

As for his D he has been lit up on occasion in the playoffs as well.

No amount of "intangibles" excuses this.

This is NOT freaking Robert Horry or even Bobby Sura for that matter in the calibre of role players.

This is why have held firm that the Gay trade will bite us in the a$$, this is typical of how Battier has choked when mor pressure or responsibility was placed on him.

Right, like no one ever countered your "Mike James is a playoff choker" argument. LOL.

If you attempt to argue that Battier did not choke in the playoffs then you have never seen a playoff game of the Grizz.

    It is simply that simple.

    Period. End of discussion.

The last nine minutes of last night game illustrated the fact that we don't have a Playmaker Point Guard.
Our team would be dead in the water if we didn't have Tracy McGrady!
If only JVG understood this and desired to fix this situation!! :(

    Oh BTW Clutch,

I am through defending that Alston could be the backup PG.

I've seen enough this game yes I did believe he had enough to qualify as the backup PG like Mike James who I will poitnt out is NOT good enough to be the starter no matter how much you think so)

But I've seen enough now to think he's not good enough to be the backup.

Luther Head is complete trash, Lucas is NBDL material only.

I have had enough of JVG and his "type of pg"

he needs to have his a$$ fired, so a competent coach can come in, start Spanoulis and get a normal backup PG (perhaps James since you love him maybe you could convince with your rants here)

But basically JVG insisting on playing Head at PG over Spanoulis IMO warrants him being fired.

Fans defending this and calling him COY makes me realize these are the Rudy apologists the fans that kept clamoring "just give it time" he won 2 rings before you know.

I mean Head is easily the worst PG in the NBA.

Thats great. He will be the 4th scoring option for us in the playoffs. Tmac, Yao and Rafer all take more shots, even Head might take more. He is in a different situation then what he was in Memphis. As long as he can hit the ocassional 3, grab some boards and play good D, he fits his role well. This team's chances in the playoffs start and end with Tmac and Yao.

Also, we are a jump shooting team right now, a bad one without Tmac. When you relly on these types of shots to score, you can lose to anyone when they arn;t falling. They didnt fall last night.

    This is basically right.

However, we are arguing two different issues.

You are using the argument that Battier fits better than Rudy Gay.

But I actually agree with that.

The point I am making and no one ever really is able to counter it, despite Clutch feeling otherwise, is that Battier is not the 3rd piece.

As you yourself say he is a champion role player great defender but he's more the 4th or 5th guy.

The issue with th Battier trade is this.

    SPIN FACTOR REMOVED

Until the Rockets actually have that 3rd peice they lost the trade.

Although Rudy Gay didn't fit "win now" and I understand the logic for the trade, he would have been the 3rd piece.

The question then logically was that I and MANY other fans asked why not have traded Gay for a 3rd piece instead of a role player (not matter what level of role player?)?

I have yet to see anyone rebuke this point as of yet.
