Got a question, on the recap page on nba.com, it said Aaron got a techinal foul in the 1st quarter, but Matt & Bill ususally say when a techinal foul is given and I can't remeber them saying that? If anyone does remeber, can yall say why he got it? Thanks

Budinger is playing pretty well offensively but his man to man D is where he would lose any advantage over either Ariza or Battier. Chase shouldn't start over or take the minutes of Ariza or Battier. Not gonna happen folks, not gonna happen. If it does then, especially with Ariza, the team is admitting failure.

Thats not a good endorsement for Dorsey. Sweetney is a decent offensive player, from what I recall, but he shouldn't be dominating a player trying to get by on defense. Post D may cost him his job, because he is an outstanding rebounder, and is very capable of blocking shots.

Wow that's some great thing to hear, thanks for informing, mdrowe00.

I knew Landry had a decent 15-17ft J but I had no idea that he could play effectively like a small forward! That's a great asset to Carl's game - versatility. I guess the only thing preventing Landry to really play as a SF for a long stretch, is, like you mentioned, his ability (and willingness) to defend the perimeter.. maybe he can be like a G.Wallace type (minus the handle but with better post moves :D) if circumstances ever call for that need
(right now we have too any SFs on the roster... i.e. Battier, Ariza, Budinger...).

But I would still love Carl to magically grow an inch or two and be like a Boozer kind of guy - little undersized but effectively in the paint + midrange (I know we hate him but Im just saying this from a pure basketball perspective - so don't flame me!)

I hope Carl has a BREAKOUT season!!

Man even though we have lost our 2 key players.. I'm still excited for the upcoming season!!!!

Taylor absolutely looks horrible. There is no way he can help us this season, and I would be shocked if he makes it too Training Camp 2010. It's a good thing we found a gem in Chase, and hopefully Tmac comes back so that will leave us with enough wing players. But this dude flat out stinks, his handle is pretty weak, and his shot is no where near as effective as Von Wafers'. Leave him in the D-League for the year, see if he amounts to anything.

Trevor is clearly trying to play beyond his ceiling. He is a MLE type of roll player trying to imitate TMac out there, and that is not his game. I hope he realizes this soon.

Carl and Aaron look fantastic out there. What a great draft that was for us in 2007 finding these two guys. Legitimate building blocks for our future. Kyle Lowry continues to show why he is the best backup PG in the league IMO.

David Andersen looks pretty solid actually. He can be like a Brad Miller type for us. He's got to learn to somewhat hold his position on defense, but I like this dude.

and ariza is not this bad, with what he has shown in both games, but man he just does not have it to be that go to guy yet, i mean i almost laughed when ppl compared his situation with t-macs. A guy trying to make a bigger name for himself, after being a big factor for his team. The difference here is that t-mac had it, he had the skills to take over games. I dont see that with Ariza. I guess we all just have to keep watching.

yea but what the hell did wallace have to complain about. Sometimes i wish he would just shut up. He obviously fouled the guy( better yet hacked him) so what could he have possibly said to that ref to defend himself.

Why did you expect him to be a playmaker or scorer? What about last season made you think he was that kind of player?

This is the kind of pressure and expectations that leads to 1-11 shooting nights. I didn't watch the game but from the shot attempt # and the reaction i'm assuming he tried to do things it should have been known he wasn't capable of, and that has to be at least partially attributable to unrealistic expectations from the FO or fans.

When a couple months have gone by and people have accepted him for who he is and what he can do, you will love what he brings. Once you've lowered your expectations he will break them.

the reason i exspected so much of him is well
how much we pay him? 30 mill?
with these type of money he have to be able to score...
we offer wafer something like 2 mill and he could shoot and create.

30 mill ARIZA have to be atleast as good as wafer( on offense). But after seeing him play....i can only say one thing... can we still sign wafer?
    ahahahaha

its a little disappointing how raw he is offensively but noone was expecting him to carry the load. he's a talented player just not a go 2 scorer. budinger is probably a better go 2 guy than ariza right now.

You should have expected more frugalness from your FO instead. A player won't magically be able to score and create just because he gets a big contract.

Give him time and don't expect him to become Tmac offensively, and you'll be saying von Who? in a matter of months.

Ariza's defense is worth 30M over 5 years. We aren't paying him 30M a year, so it's not like we overpayed for his services. In order to acquire talent in this league, you have to pay for it. The Rockets payed what the market was for Ariza.

I don't understand why people expect him to be able to handle the ball and score with ease. Yeah, Adelman and Morey said they would feature him more in the offense, but I don't think they meant in iso's. Ariza needs to just chill a little bit and let the game come to him. I think right now he is trying to force things because expectations from the people around him are too dam high. Some in the FO were making comparisons to Scottie Pippen. I'm sure when Ariza hears that he probably feels like he is letting the organization down if he doesn't develop into that type of player.

I think you just need to be patient with the guy and also realize that some players weren't meant to do certain things. IF Ariza can never dribble properly to create for others, than that's just fine, we aren't paying him top dollar to produce that type of game anyways.
