We won, we finaly won, damn it!

If anybody needed this win more then ever, it was Steve. Hopefully now things could go back to normal, because if we had lost, it would have gotten uglier for him and the team.

Putting the superbowl stupidity behind us, I can safely say that after the Suns game and tonight's game, the team definitely looks better with Steve Francis.

Did not see the game but the most important thing is that we won by a decent margin. It's good to see Francis scoring well and Cuttino and Mo bouncing back. But when guys like Skinner go off it seems that the post defense was poor.
Did Mobley and JJ do a good defensive job on Redd and Mason?
I'm glad that A. Griffin made his debut for us. I hope he will remain fit and be productive with time. We need Pike to regain his shooting form as well but I'm always concerned because of our inconsistency no matter who is on the court.
If we take Chicago lightly they can hit us hard.
Yao needs to step up on defense and be more aggressive offensively as well.

i know this is stating the obvious, but watching shaq tonight against the cavs really showed the difference between the two of them. shaq gets the ball in the post and it's good night every time.

who cares if yao can play outside? the reason franchise centers are so important is because they can do it inside and control the paint area. yao needs to learn to play near the basket with a lot of contact and to finish even though he's being fouled.

it's just like when people complain that steve's not a true point guard. the role of a floor general who distributes the ball needs to be filled regardless of whether or not your point guard can score.

the role of center who can rebound, intimidate, and finish under the basket needs to be filled even though your center can shoot outside.

I don't mean to pick just on you sup123 because a lot people do this but I'll use you as an example...

It doesn't help a players cause for fans to sit there and try and divert responsibility from a player's game by blaming it on the refs. The refs do make bad calls but it happens at both ends of the floor, and sometimes certain players get the shaft a little but nothing that is worth the whining that goes on. Listen to Shaq cry and moan about officiating and think if that is how fans of any player who might be at the wrong end of a call would want that player to look.

I could count on two hands the number of people that are going to get that inside joke..

"On a sadder note, Pizza the Hut (famed half-man, half-pizza) was found dead earlier today in the back seat of his
stretch limo. Evidently, the notorious gangster became locked in his car, and ate himself to death."

    1) Post defense could have been better....Skinner hit some that I wouldnt have expected.

2)Redd went 2-11 and Mason 4-12....Yes...they did a fine job on them.

3)Griff did a pretty fair job for a guy that has been out all season...he hit a nice midrange shot that B&C said has been his most consistent shot in Dallas...so it is always nice to have a good midrange shooter since thats where there are more openings on most nights. His defense is better than the other backup 3's we have...so I expect to see alot more of him backing up JJ.

    4) It appears to me that Francis has something to prove...and with Cat and Mo and JJ shooting well..I dont expect a letdown against CHI..

5)If it is any consolation...Yao did look a bit more aggressive tonight...he just managed to get himself infoul trouble earlier than normal..

We had a win and only 5 pages of posts? What's happening!

Go Rockets! Nothing beats a win to ignite our second half season-run!

    Post game quotes:

"Geez, my Lord," Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy said of that anomaly. "National holiday: Rockets pass to themselves. That's good." (refering the fact the Rockets only had 10 turnovers, and only 2 in the second half)

"I think more important for everybody else," Rockets forward Jim Jackson said. "I don't understand the big deal. He made a mistake. He admitted to it. Come back and play basketball. Just let it go. It really is not that serious. We knew it would be a thing. We came out to play basketball. It's over."

"I know the radio station told people to boo me. But I've been booed in Vancouver for 48 minutes and came out with the best game of my rookie season. That right there is just a small step to try to get over some things." (Francis speaking)

That's why this team is going nowhere long-term. Yao is not a franchise center like Shaq or Duncan, but Steve is also not a Western Conference point guard. If Yao is placed in a role of a go-to guy like Hakeem, he will not do well. The same thing can be said of Steve because he is just outmatched against guys like Bibby and Nash due to his poor outside shot, that it's not even funny anymore. Until I see this team beat the Western Conference playoff contenders down from Seattle in the position 10 to the Kings in the #1 spot, it is basically just treading water in the West.

Agree with you at this point! I like this win though against east conference team. What I am looking forward is the game against Spurs, which would be a solid test for our defence and offence.

I think this is the key to our future success. We only had 10 turnovers and we scored 100+ points easily. If we can continue to keep the ball and play solid D, this team will be alright. I am just so happy that we only had 10 TOs. Beautiful stat.

Where are all the Francis bashers??
Looks like they have hid themselves till francis has a bad game, and then we will see the game threads back up to 10 pages again. Sad.. Great support 4 the team shown by them....

Some perspective on the Bucks announcers. The Bucks color man said he always thought of Maurice Taylor as more of a rebounder than a scorer. Keep that in mind when you listen to them talk about the Rockets.

    Way to go Rockets!!!

The best thing about a win, besides it adds to the win colomn, the fairweather fans on this forum get to shut up for a day. They'll be back tomorrow, but it's a nice holiday.

Great game! SF, Cuttino, JJ, Yao, even Weatherspoon/Griffin had a nice game. I always enjoy when the points and effort is spread around. They held Redd and TJ in total check.
