    for crying out loud

this was a preseason, yao doesnt miss so much shots, he is obviously working off his rust right now, he consistently shoots over 50% , if the other coach single covers Yao thats just stupid, Yao can just do any move and dunk or lay it up in his face

You would think that after reading this post, it was after some big regular season defeat. But no! Its after a PRESEASON win in which your franchise player is returning from a Toe injury.

If in the regular season Yao misses 3 in a row, I would go back to him again and again...especially if you single cover him. Thats the biggest mismatch in the league.

"JVG is going to have to know when to say when....

Yao was missing too many shots and we were not in place for rebounds. I said it before and I say it again. That is going to be a problem against the best in the West.

After 3 misses in a row, we need to get everyone else involved. If I was coaching against him, I would single cover him and let him miss all day long. Guard the perimeter and take my chances.

Once he is in a funk, WE ARE IN TROUBLE. It has been the same way for the the last three years. Steve Francis and Cutino was not having that.

    Just a thought."

-- note, it's preseason, it's not about winning that game. what's next? if yao misses shots during practise, the guards should stop passing him?

Why don't we just trade him or somthing? How about Tmac, he's only shooting around 35 to 40%, let's bench him, too!

Hmm...good question. Battier might have to change his name, or we will have to give him a nick to avoid the confusion.

I am going to have to strongly disagree here. A few years ago, we were complaining about Yao not continuing to shoot despite missing a few... now we are complaining about him shooting too much? We are also talking about shots that he usually makes, nothing forced. If he misses, he will continue to shoot. That forces defenses to be honest. Everybody knows that, if he start making shots. It's only a matter of time. No coach is dumb enough to let them warm up to that. If T-mac/Kobe/Wade/Lebron were to be in a funk in the first half, are you going to let him continue shooting with single coverage, or prevent him from getting into any sort of rhythm. Obviously, anybody would choose the latter.

You seem to forget that Yao is our Franchise player. This is now J. Ho, or any of our bench players we are talking about.

It was preaseason. Yao was coming back from an injury. Yao's got the highest FG% on the team. You would never have this complaint about Tmac. Steve Francis and Cuttino weren't 'having that' and now they're off the team. It's a good thing the coaching staff will never listen to you because you honestly don't know what the hell you're talking about.

    Just a thought.

watching the game I got excited when novak kept hitting 3's. I like what I saw from the youngsters. I usually get excited during preseason but man I feel like this team can reallly make something happen this year. just think if san antonio or dallas has a couple of injuries they could fall several spots and then well who knows what could happen...les said he wanted guys that could get up after falling down and hopefully this is the year that we can maintain good health and keep rockin!
Its crazy that we haven't even seen bonzai yet.

I really hope this will become true. But Synder replaces Luther.

Just another thought - JVG was dead set on giving Yao the touches he needed to work off the rust and with a lineup around him that will never crash the boards and lead the league in RB's - although Padge did a decent job. But the rest of the lineup was in to see who could cut it and who would be cut. Also to give the PG's the touches needed to improve on getting the ball into Yao efficiently. Gosh it was nice watching Bill put those perfect little lobs into Yao's hands. Now if Bill could just teach Rafer how to do that.

If JVG had his rotation set and if he cared about winning pre-season games Tracy and Battier and Hayes would have played.

As it is our scrubs outmatched their scrubs and Yao got some good floor time.

    Bill says Chill Rook. :D

Fox had a poll among the fans about who were the biggest surprises in training camp, Vspan and Novak each got 36% apiece to win the poll. I have to eat crow about Vspan, the kid looked good running the team yesterday. Novak I would just keep on the floor to shoot technicals, that shot really makes him intruiging to me to be the primary backup to Battier and T-Mac. Also, impressed with Snyder, I don't see how Byron Scott gave him up for so little, he hits threes, is an athlete, him and Bonzi are going to be a 2 headed monster at the SG.

If I was JVG I would play VSpan and Novak as starters in a couple of the remaining pre-season games, lets see what they can do playing with Yao and T-Mac playing the bulk of the minutes.

Framing Yao's instrument and pushing it down. Yao sure looks excited this game.

if yao gets coverage like he did last night, once he gets his rythym back, he'll get nearly 40 every single time.

AS much as I have tried to say that Padgett is not for the Rockets as he is now well past his best, I have to eat my words and say that I was favourably impressed with his play last night, especially his court awareness and positioning. As an experienced player I think he has more to offer than HOWARD, Bowen, Azubuike, Haryasz and Jacobsen. :p
