V-Span plays with reckless abandon, kinda reminds me of manu, but with less accuracy in shooting.

the only problem is that on half court offense, v-span is sometimes lost. the shot clock would be down to 10 secs before he starts to drive or dish.

V-Span is more suitable to a Phoenix suns open court type of basketball, when yao is on the court rafer should be our PG. when he's out, then its kill bill time! :D

Here's what I think, these are the bench players that will add points off the bench for the Rockets this season:

    Luther Head
    Steve Novak
    Vassilis Spanoulis

I agree. I think people are underestimating how well Rafer has improved. The only thing I have noticed is that he doesn't seem to be used to dribbling the new ball yet along with everyone else in the league. Rafer is still a very valuable piece on this team and I am not sure if people realize it but they will soon enough.

i agree with everyone's enthusiasm with the new players - i love them

however, remember who our competition was these past 2 games.

can vspan play like that against a tony parker, jason terry, steve nash, or baron davis? can novak be that open against better teams with their first units? can snyder penetrate like that or hit his jumpers with the likes of ron artest and kobe bryant in his face?

    perhaps they can in time

but to do that right away when the season starts, let's be realistic with our expectations

I still believe Rafer will start at the 1 because he has seen competition like what i said above in previous season, and snyder probably at the 2. And there will be many times this season that VSpan and Novak will frustrate JVG to no end with their decision-making, not their talents, but decision-making. But theywill remedy that with time. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

It's absolutely thrilling to see what can Novak and V-Span do. It's a breath of fresh air. I'm pleased to see Snyder doing well too. I hope Bonzi will get healthy soon.

    111 vs 97

    7 guys into double-digit score !!

    Yao Ming: 22 points/7 rebounds/2 assists/1 block shot
    Steve Novak: 17 points/5 rebounds
    Kirk Snyder: 15 points
    Rafer Alston: 12 points
    Luther Head: 11 points
    Scott Padgett: 10 points/8 rebounds (?)
    Vassilis Spanoulis: 10 points/8 assists !!!

Do we call this balanced shooting ???

Stop playing Juwan at centre please. It's too tough to watch Juwan playing centre.

Dear Clutch, we lost our first preseason game, but I think the front page should stand pat.

exactly, if vspan dishes like 8 asst a game, couple of steals, draw some charges... that just seems good enough to me, even though he missed most of his shot, say 2-6, he doesn't necessarily need to shoot lots of balls, coz we had Yao and T-mac..

Just a little note for the administrators...

The front page says that we're "unbeaten" so far in the preseason. I think the Rockets lost the first pre-season game, no?

JHo's game seems to continue its downhill spiral. Against mostly 2d and 3d string players, he is still a step slow, unable to rebound effectively, unable to react to quick passes (mostly from VSpan), and generally seems useless out on the floor. Yeah, yeah, yeah, "he can hit the mid-range jumper and 2 years ago he would have made a difference against the Mavs, yada, yada, yada..." Look, we now have some tremendous young talent and I think JHo should be one of the 3 that is put on the development roster along with Rybo or even cut outright. I hope the Rox keep the best 12 players they have on the roster I just don't see any room for him right now. All right, I'm bracing myself for the hate...

sucks i was hoping he would make the team...high school friend of mine....

but man to think about it now

the mle could have gone completely to mike james

now it was parlay into bonzi wells (one year rental) and getting a third year on both novak and v-span's contracts which will give us their birds rights. Not that they'll ever be max contract players but it looks like they will be those role player guys that every contending team wants...

first game i was able to see tongiht on my 61inch tv i bought specifically to watch rocket games in style (LP finally kicked in) and god it was great.

    drexler pbp SUCKS!
