I think Lucas will be the odd man out, I admire his effort but he really doesn't bring much to the table in terms of impact on this team. I think he might get a roster spot next season when Moochie is gone.

Hayes and Baxter are keepers, you can't have enough rebounding/defending big men, they just give you a lot of options as a coach to mix-n-match and play around with the lineup. Also, w've been using Deke way too much, I would like to drastically cut his minutes.

Yep. but Baxter and Hayes have been performing consistently now. The bobcats game was nother game they've performed well.
hayes in the last 3 games

    12 Points and 13 boards @chicago

    4 Points 6 boards @Det

    7 Points 12 Boards @MIL

    11 Points 8 Boards Chal

Thats about 9 points and 10 boards a game in the last 4 games off the bench.

Dekes Minutes are based on matchups. if like tonight we play a team with a versatile and quick frontcourt, obviousely he will see less minutes, but against a bulkier and and bigger froncourts like the pistons or heat, he will see extended minutes.

like some of you have said already, I also really have a feeling that the momentum is really starting to turn in our favor now. IF you dont have that feeling then just look at their play recently. It can only get better from here also because of the players in line to come back from injuries.

    Lets go Rox!

on the off note, Im geussing his 1 board is from the layup he missed on the Bobcats basket? ;)

I don't mean to rain on Baxter's 18/11, but he excels against lower competition like college, summer league and a Hornets team missing Okafor and Sean May. I want to see how he does against better competition. My suspicion is he will not do very well at all. Since Chuck Hayes is a rookie, he could develop and have a decent upside. Hayes is intriguing to me, but I don't think Baxter has a long future in the NBA. I'll leave open the possibility he's just figuring things out now and could be ready for a small amount of consistent minutes.

Of the three "bubble" players, Hayes is most valuable, followed by Baxter and then Lucas.

Yeah, all night those two are going to be trading clanged 3 pointers (EG) for missed dunks (SS).

Carl Herrera didn't drop 18-11 very often. How many double doubles has Mark Madsen logged? All we wanted from Carl was 10-15 minutes of gritty basketball. That is exactly what Baxter brings. He is a guy that will come off the bench as that 3rd 4/5 and will give you all out effort and play within himself. As long as he continues to do those things, he will have a spot on some team in this league.

Did anyone see ESPN's recap? Funny stuff:

HOUSTON (AP) -- For a change, the Houston Rockets were all smiles after a home game.

That wasn't the only difference following the Rockets' easy 102-78 win over the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday night.

Houston coach Jeff Van Gundy, searching for reasons why the Rockets had lost 10 of 13 home games, shook up the team's pre-game routine to simulate the road, where they're 11-13.

"We're eliminating the nonsense," Van Gundy said. "I'm fed up. I'm sick of losing at home and playing terrible basketball. Nonsense is always a distraction."

The players noticed the changes as soon as they arrived before the game:

    --The team lounge was locked.

--Instead of a hot meal, a table in the locker room was stacked with cold subs.

--The six current injured players were not allowed to sit on the bench.

At least for one night, the ploy worked.

Tracy McGrady scored 29 points in three quarters as the Rockets snapped a seven-game home losing streak with perhaps their best performance at the Toyota Center all season.

"He's just trying to change up the atmosphere around here and make it feel like we're on the road," McGrady said of Van Gundy. "He's the general and we've just got to follow his rules."

Seldom-used Lonnie Baxter added a season-high 18 points and 11 rebounds and David Wesley added 15 for Houston, which snapped a seven-game losing streak. The Rockets hadn't won a home game since a 91-73 victory over Boston on Dec. 6.

Wesley felt like the pre-game alterations helped.

"Coach did a full change in here," Wesley said. "There were a lot of changes and it looked like they worked."

Matt Carroll had 19 for injury-depleted Charlotte, which dropped its season-high ninth straight game.

The Rockets, meanwhile, rode one of their best home-court offensive performances of the season to their third win in four games. The NBA's second-lowest scoring team shot 46 percent (39 of 84) and had 26 assists, a season-high for a home game.

Van Gundy is prepared to keep the new routine -- whether the players like it or not.

"I don't like our home environment," he said. "I don't like it at all. I'm going to do what I can to make the environment what I think it should be to be able to play our very best. If that ruffles feathers, I don't care."

McGrady noticed the subs the second he walked into the locker room before the game.
