YOFs should realize that Yao himself doesn't care about his stats. Ultimately, the success of the team is far more important to him than personal numbers.

Anti-YOFs should realize that JVG and everyone in the organization thinks that Yao should get more shots. Ultimately, the success of the team depends a lot on Yao and will not come to fruition without major contributions from him. Yao's 5-8, 12 point nights are not going to get the Rox to the next level.

Since I'm Chinese and started only rooting for the Rox because of YAO, I guess I'm a YOF too. I also care about his stats and strongly believe (as does JVG) that the Rockets will be a better team when Yao starts shooting the ball 15-20 times a game. In blowouts like tonite though, who cares? It would have been gratifying to see Yao put up 20+ pts but it's really a non-issue.

I think we should be happy that Yao isn't some egotistic guy like Shaq who DOES case about stats, and DOES whine about getting shots, and HAS threatened before to ease off on defense if he's not getting his touches.

first of all, I want to say that I respect you, and appreciate your hard work after each game, so that those out-of-towners like me could share the joy of rockets' success. To me, that's a true fan, coz you don't gain anything from that, and you only lose sleeps:)

Back to the topic, I don't go to chat room any more, I'd rather refresh the NBA.com stats like crazy. Why? I can't handle some of those so-called fans' complaints, like you mentioned. I would rather stay away from it. Why I was upset today? To me, those couple of posts in the beginning were quite innocent, didn't deserve the sensitive YOF labeling.

I have no respect for those who put one single player over the team. In the past, I have confronted some of them harshly. I also said, they are not Yao's fans, who wanted him to play somewhere else, who said Rockets suck this and suck that. I said if you love a girl, you don't attack her family and friends, to turn her closed ones against her. You would rather make friends for her etc. I've said that many many times. Those do not love yao, but rather love themselves, who advoate some strange personal agendas. They are not fans, much less Yao's fans, not to mention Yao only fans. That's why I am so pissed about this YOF name. It certainly has nothing to do with Yao.

We have to see that the game thread is a lot better than before - winning cures all. There were still talking about yao's touches, but i would rather see them harmless. I don't want to second-guess other people's motives, because it's dangerous. My own perspective would affect my objectivity. That's why I am even offended by the name of YOF, seeing it throwing around. Because the ones you condemned do not deserve to be a fan, not to mention a fan of Yao, or Yao only fan.

I just think, relatively new comers, like me, would appreciate a more friendly environment. Because we all know how good this forum is, and I would like to see more fans, basketball fans, rockets fans, yao fans, tracy fans etc. Lots of things aren't what they appear to be. I started to follow Rockets around 92', but only found out about this forum in 2003'. I was a dream fan before I became a fan of Yao. I joined here in 2003, doesn't automatically make me a suspect of "YOF". The bias is not helpful.

That's all. Peace. Like tigger said, who cares, it's all about nothing. Rockets WON.

As I said before, I exactly admire Yao for the fact that he puts the team first, which is more than what I can say for some of his devout fans, who in some cases could care less about the Rockets doing well.

As for the touches, Yao DOES get enough touches when the team needs it, and he has been along with T-Mac taking over the fourth quarter lately. That has been a joy to watch. Yao and his teammates KNOW to get him/Tracey the ball when the game is on the line or when they need him to because they can't hit outside shots etc.

Does Yao sometimes not get enough touches? Absolutely, but sometimes that is a valid criticism during losses, where he barely got the ball. However, we must understand that Yao is NOT in the prime of his career, and therefore 18.5 pts/8 rbs are pretty good numbers for him now, as long as the team wins.

Remember last year when Steve Francis was averaging just a little over 16 pts a game? I admired him very much for doing that, because he DID (although reluctantly) put the team ahead of his own stats, but it payed off by getting the Rockets to their first playoff appearance in 5 years. So while Francis was averaging 16 points/game, Yao is now averaging almost 19 a game. I really think this is a non-issue, for the ultimate priority is to win, and if that means that Yao will get less touches at times, and more in other games, then so be it! If it means T-Mac has to pass more and let his personal stats suffer, then so be it!

I think this team with the players we have are much selfless than the fans are, and they seem to have bought into JVG's "team first" philosophy, while some fans apparently haven't yet come to accept that reality, and want more emphasis on individuals.:(

    Yah well...

That's bogus. Yao has repeatedly mentioned that he wanted to put up very good stats this season so that he deserves a max this coming summer. Sure he said all those things the first 2 months this season.

He might be humble and passive, but to say that he does not care about stats is just a silly lie.

GP, LaFrentz, all the young guys, Jefferson, West, Allan and Banks. This team is deep and good, they beat Detroit and the Suns and it would not surprise me if they leap over Detroit and play Miami for the East championship . Rox won't take these guys for granted and Boston will definitely have a better matchup at PF but we win our 7th in a row on Friday.

He said in his Ahmad Rashad interview that his best moment was when he scored 41 pts. He also said in various newspaper accounts that one of his goals this year was to score 50 in game.

How does that equate to him wanting "to put up very good stats this season so that he deserves a max this coming summer"?

    Its not the same thing.
