Perhaps he didn't wanted their opponents to clear their heads?

How many years of experience you have in coaching basketball teams?

having experience as a coach doesn't mean he won't make mistake, and that was a bad decision to not call a time out.

It's not always bad, and when Harden was too tired, it wouldn't have been bad for him to get rid of the ball.

But that's not the criticism you made. You made the criticism that he was selfish, and that he isn't efficient with the ball in his hands.

That's not accurate, and the only reason you're mad about isn't because the Rockets lost, it's because your favorite player didn't get the chance to shine like you wished he had.

The fact is that Harden does share the ball, has a good number of assists, and it's only at the end of quarters when he goes into iso mode. That's the way it should be. Harden carried the team for the first two games, so he earned a chance to try it in the third.

    I don't mind criticism when it's legit. Yours wasn't.

I agree. Our team would have benefited from Harden passing the ball. He went into iso mode too early and was definitely too fatigued to make it happen.

Hopefully they'll learn. I'm not that concerned about it at this point because it is a young team, and it was game 3 in 4 nights. Harden also carried the team in the first two games and is the logical choice to be the go-to guy. Hopefully they learn and grown from this.

The reason we're still talking about this game is this is "the one that got away". If we had lost by 30 points we would have moved on.

    IS IT WEDNESDAY YET?????

Ok I'll fix what I said. In my opinion McHale is the one that screwed up the last play. So if there SHOULD be a blame, it should go to McHale because both Harden and Lin were playing by the book. So it was up to McHale to change to book if he knew what was going to happen. Of course they didn't lose the game just because of the last play. They all made lots of mistake through the entire game. But if we are analyzing what should have been done at the last minute. I think the best course of action like almost any other team would do is to take a timeout even if it means giving your opponent a break to clear their heads. It is always more important for the offense to clear their heads than it is for the defense because of the coordination needed for the offense to work.

And why even bring up the experience card, we all know that it plays little into the criticism. It's like telling everyone that people shouldn't point out Lin for that last alleyhoop or Harden for driving in too much during OT because people have no experience as a player.

I agree that having experience doesn't mean he won't make mistake ..never did i claimed such a thing...however having any coaching experience would perhaps prevent someone from judging something as a bad decision without having insight into facts and sofisticated peculiarities and intricacies of the critical moments when the questionable decision happened...

why on earth would not calling time out would be a bad decision?
    Only in your subjective mind...

because I am assuming here you are not Gods messenger coming from the heaven with God revealed manual for 100% correct coaching decision making...:cool::cool:

Definitely got away at the end by poor decision-making or mental lapse due to being tired (?). Rockets just had to play it safe and make opponents take tough shots; they didn't do that, so they let one get away. When you are a border-line play-off team like Rockets, you can't let this kind of game get away.

I don't blame the coach for letting Harden have the ball at the end because there is no guarantee that any other player would have done better; this was not the poor decision. The poor decisions were already made BEFORE then that allowed Blazers to tie the game.

You're assuming a bit much that he wanted Lin to shine. He just wanted more ball movement. He is right that there wasn't much when Harden had the ball. However it's just their first 3 games so it's understandable.

Everyone needs to step up. I don't think anyone else but Lin and Harden were in double figures this game.

No need to freak out, we lost the game because we did not shoot well and we turned the ball over. If I could give the Rockets any advice it would be this: keep playing the way you've been playing. Turnovers can be minimized, but they happen. Off shooting nights are part of the game. Also, don't forget that you are one play away from having won that game.

    Move onto the next one.

if you want to argue whether is that a correct decision, name me some benefit why we shouldn't call a time out instead with these "god messenger, whether it'd end well or not "

i can name a few if we do :

    1. our starters were obviously tired , they can use it to take a short break.
    2. Blazers just hit a big three to tie the game, the momentum was on their side,a time out would had stop that
    3. run a play to help Harden , even if we don't have a practiced play to run and going iso with Harden just like we did , it'd make them wonder what play we're going to do and disrupt their defense a bit.
    4. Harden was out of form , and he's a young player who not yet familiar being the no.1 guy , motivate him and boast his confidence, tell him to drive it into the paint to finish it or draw a foul instead of settle for a 3 point jump shot
    5. subs Delfino or Morris for Asik with a smaller line up , you don't need Asik on that last play, he's not contribute much at the offensive end , Delfino or Morris would help to spread the floor and draw more attention from their defender .

so now let me know why not calling a time out is good idea

A few posts back, he suggested that Lin was being too unselfish and that he should be passing less. While he's advocating team basketball, he clearly contradicts it with the aforementioned suggestion. Like FranchiseBlade said, I'm all for criticism but max is clearly being "slightly" bias. It also looks like the worst assessment of a player that I've seen. To suggest that a player who is averaging about 1 assist less than the PG as selfish is completely ridiculous.

While I agree that the team can improve their ball movement, that is an assessment of a team that has had little practice together after a major trade.
