I don't like to single out players, but Rafer must learn that when his shot isn't falling, he needs to find another means of helping his team. The Rockets need to be able to make the most of their possessions, and that means taking good shots, and coverting on shot-attempts in the paint. If Alston's shot isn't falling, then he needs to stop shooting.

Strange. I always thought that Anthony Mason's hair-cuts were the eighth wonder of the world. :D

he hasn't actually taken a "shot". they've all be point blank layups.

now, if you have a point blank shot you take it. it's just amazing that a starting NBA PG can miss all of those layups!

Why the hell is JVG being outcoached so badly by McMillan? Find other ways to keep Tracy involved in the offense man!

Well, I can't blame him for the 'starting' part, he's not a starter-caliber player but on the Rockets he gets to start...it's an unfortunate byproduct of our fortunes at the 1 position.

Rafer is the first player in NBA history that I can remember screaming at to take three pointers and stop taking layups/shots closer to the basket. The Rockets are better off when he takes 3-pters than when he shoots layups...and no, I am not kidding.

    I am befuddled...

i don't think he's being outcoached. the team is outmatched. they're huge. we're tiny.

rafer got a lucky one to drop. maybe the hardest shot of the night.

actually since the other shots were point blank, none of them were actually hard.

If Van Gundy has a glaring weakness, it is his inability- or unwillingness- to deviate from his game-plan. He rarely makes adjustments once a game has started, and, in games where a particular player seems to be dominating the opposition, displays a reluctance to allow said player to continue to remain a prominent part of the offense.

I saw him do this in New York, often going away from the "hot-hand" in order to force-feed another player (usually Ewing), and I have seen him do it with both McGrady and Yao in the past. Why he does this I don't know, but it makes the game more diffcult than it should be. It's almost as if he's doing the other team's dirty work for them.

If something is working, stick with it. If it isn't, adjust and find another way. JVG seems to have problems in these areas, for reasons that I cannot explain.
