Him too. I mean at this point what's the worse that could happen? Battier and Artest knows defense--Battier can handle the strategic parts and Artest can handle the "I'll teach you how to bust people's ass" part. Cassell can work on the team's midrange game. Elie can help the diamong-in-the-rough players expand their games. Horry can just flash his championship rings and let them know this is what they need to have as their goals.

I was just about to post this; wondered if it would be a quintessentially outside the box Defense ass't coach for TheGoodGuys?

I didn't even think it was worth thinking about really. I still don't. He loves California (is from there) and is 71 years old. He's wrapping up his career and probably wants to stay in Cali.

Oh I agree, he’s a long long shot. It’s interesting how tight to the chest the rockets are keeping this process. I think they wanted MDA extended first and that seems unlikely at this point.

"Nah" but the idea of a former player, I like. Was thinking more like Shan Battier

There was also a game where we put in Nene, knowing GS would attack him, and Curry hit a dagger on him

That was fine, the problem was the switch and not committing to play aggressive defense and maybe send a double team.

If Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta really wants to put his money where his mouth is in being willing to do anything for a championship, he should try to see if he could woo defensive guru Ron Adams away from GSW like the Lakers are trying to do.

There is no salary cap on coaches. Defense is critical. Get one of the best defensive assistants out there. And the bonus, you take him AWAY from rival GSW.

    I agree.

There is no salary cap on head coaches or assistants. Yet we still don’t have MDA signed and we don’t have anyone to lead the defense.

I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they were eyeing someone coaching in the Finals.

I know Hollins style of defense doesn’t fit our existing group, so wasn’t overly surprised that he wasn’t brought aboard.

Still Adams is arguably the best defensive coach in the NBA.

Per Kelly IKO today in his chat:
    Rockets like Ron Adams
    Harden likes Jarron Collins

To add a bit to that:

I followed up with Kelly on whether they are actively trying to interview Ron Adams. He said he doesn't know, just that he knows they like him.
