[ClutchFans] Dorsey shocks in return to Memphis (with video)

I'm not gonna lie, as happy as i was to see Dorsey play as well as he did tonight. I'm a little sad to see that Dorsey isn't bringing the emphaticness that he used to. His first summer league season he was cocking back dunks behind his head everytime he got the chance and was blocking shots into backcourt territory and screaming(very intimidating). I'm afraid some of his confidence left with the cockyness. Hopefully the more confident he gets the more entensity we'll see. that layup under the basket would have been a rim raddler in college and that dunk he had would have been a backboard shaker. I'm extremely happy with what he did tonight, but i really would love to see him regain that confidence. Kind of a Birdman like stature..

He brings a much needed physical presence on both ends of the court...he boxes out very well!!!

 

In the Chronicle story, Joey said that he was so excited to get in he didn't even ask who he was subbing for, and so he subbed the wrong guy out! LOL that's cute!

That's why the announcers were surprised Landry was still in the game.

 

You know, that's what I think his potential can be, just a bit more physically imposing but a bit shorter in the Bball IQ department. I would be very happy with him if that's all he gave us. Look what the Birdman does for Denver.

 

really, you can tell who has more Bball IQ between Birdman and Dorsey? I think Dorsey's ceiling is a bit higher than Birdman...

One of the things that immedietly caught my eye when Dorsey was on the floor, was his aggressiveness to get position on each shot attempt. When a shot went up, he immediately put a body on his defender, and boxed him out. Or, if on the offensive side of the ball, he always attempted to get position and grab the offensive board. I love seeing this.

To many times in the NBA, you see people relying in just athleticism to grab a rebound, but not Dorsey. He always put a body on someone.

Of course, it's just one game, but no reason not to be at least a bit excited.

 

Let's hope this game wasn't a fluke. We really need his physical presence down low. He may not be as skilled as Dwight Howard, but his physical appearance is very similar to his.

dorsey must be at most 6-7 if matt is 6-10

in the video matt towers over him

 

i wouldn't be surprised if the rockets are just letting him play just to increased his trade value at a rapid rate. dorsey is just trying to prove people wrong.

 

I've been in McAllen Tx, and I know people would cross the border there for either drugs or hookers.

 

I just hope that Dorsey doesn't get a guaranteed contract and go back to being lazy. He can't afford to slack off like a star player, because he isn't that good to begin with.

 

At the NBA pre-draft camp, he measured 6'7.25" in shoes. He's about an inch shorter than Scola and Landry. He's taller than Hayes though.
