Ya know its pretty funny when people mention that Pippen had 6 rings along side Jordan, but I guess they don't realize that Jordan didn't win one with Pippen hell he didn't even lead a team to a winning record without Pippen.

I can understand not liking him for his time in Houston but to sit here and call him crap without Jordan is just flat out false. The year without MJ he did finish 3rd in the MVP voting so if that is crap then what are a lot of other NBA Players?

I agree though he is far from a leader. I can't disagree with you about that.

i don't know if you remember that series vs the Lakers, but Pippen wouldn't shoot the ball in crunch time, passes the ball to a rookie named Cutino Mobley and blamed this rookie for not winning the game.

the 15million dollar man didn't want to be the hero when it mattered, he'd rather pass to the 2nd round draft pick from that year.

that's why I like the old rockets, they WANTED to be the hero! and they were happy if their teammates became heroes too.

they don't get angry if Toni Kukoc hits a game winner.

When Mario Elie hit the kiss of death, that play was suppose to be for Dream. Dream didn't complain.

well post Rockets, Pippen again chokes with Portland. That portland team was stacked with a giant front line with Sheed and Sabonis, should have beaten the Lakers. However, Horry stepped up in that series cause he wanted to be a hero and Pippen again shows that he doesn't want to be a hero.

I would say he was like Shawn Marion of the his day, except I think he's better than Shawn Marion.

All that is good and all but my whole is without Jordan he was more then Crap, which people like to call him without Jordan. So I guess we pretty much agree he is a better player without Jordan then some people think.

I think you had to be a Rockets fan at the time to realize what a fricken scam Scottie Quitten turned out to be for this team.

I mean, we had a good side that year. Not brilliant, but even with our stars at the very end of their careers we probably had enough to challenge for the title if things went our way (Injuries).

Quitten came in and pretty much did everything you could want to do to ruin a team. He was the definition of a cancer.

He came in talking himself up, he sat back and did nothing of any note, he acted like everyone should have been greatful that he blessed us with his presence, and then he quit.

I think if any true Rockets fan could remove one player from our teams history, its not even a matter of thinking about it, Quitten would be the one.

    from Wikipedia:

However, perhaps the most infamous episode of Pippen's career came in the post-season of Pippen's first year without Jordan. In the 1994 NBA Playoffs, the Eastern Conference semifinals pitted the Bulls against their bitter rivals, the New York Knicks, whom the Bulls had dispatched en route to a championship in each of the previous three seasons. On May 13, 1994, down 2-0 in the series and tied 102-102 in Game Three, Bulls coach Phil Jackson needed a big play from his team to have any hope of advancing to the next round of the playoffs. With 1.8 seconds left and the score tied, Jackson designed the last play for rookie Toni Kukoč, with Pippen relegated to simply inbounding the basketball. Pippen, who had been the Bulls' leader all season long in Jordan's absence, was so angered by Jackson's decision to not let him take the potential game-winner that he refused to leave the bench and re-enter the game when the timeout was over.

Although Kukoč did eventually hit the game-winner, a 23-foot fadeaway jumper, there was little celebrating to be done by the Bulls, as television cameras caught an unsmiling Phil Jackson storming out of the arena. "Scottie asked out of the play," Jackson would tell reporters moments later in the post-game interview room. Those seeking further answers found Pippen in the locker room after the game, looking shell-shocked and disoriented; when asked to confirm Jackson's statement, Pippen could only respond with "Yeah, pretty much ... We exchanged words, and I just took a seat."

Teammate Steve Kerr elaborated when recently asked to recall the event: "I was shocked," he said. "The only way to describe it was total disbelief. Here was a guy who had done so much for our team, who had been our leader all year long. He was, and still is, one of the greatest teammates I've ever had. But on that day, I think all the pressure and frustration of our season caught up with him, and he snapped." :(

I never liked pippen and always thought he's way overrated. Drexler's my favorite. I always become angry when ppl say pippen > drexler.

I did not follow rockets after clyde retired. But I was not happy when rox landed pippen, since i never was a fan of his and did not think he could do ****.

I dont think he would have been nominated as 1 of the all time 50 greats if he had not played along with MJ. 1 or 2 time all stars would be the most for him.
