So Mack can't get the continuation earlier in the game when he's clear as day hacked while elevating to the bucket (and makes the layup)... but Scheyer gets his jersey grabbed, then takes two steps, makes a shot, and they count it? Butler's doing an amazing job to be within 5 playing 5 on 8 basketball.
The officiating in this game is absolutely pathetic. In all fairness, Butler has gotten away with some non-called fouls also.
Norad is a VERY poor offensive player, especially finishing at the rim. Butler has to make their stand now. It's slipping away from them.
duke has had 4 or 5 chances to match or surpass it's previous 6 point lead and has failed. scheyer even had an open 3 that last time.
kind of like butler was grabbing and reaching like crazy on the previous 2 possessions with no call and then scheyer touches howard and it's 2 ft's.
nothing slips away from a team of destiny. they give up an open 3 and an offensive rebound when down 5 and duke misses the shot and throws the rebound into the backcourt and now it's a 1 point game with butler momentum.
that's usually the problem, refs calling flagrants just because it looks bad when much harder fouls that don't knock a guy down are let go. luckily they didn't make that mistake.
I hope both teams run out of timeouts so it doesn't take 20 minutes to play the last 90 seconds of this game.
one of the nice things about cbb is how short the non-tv timeouts are. so even when they call a lot at the end it isn't too terrible.
That's what's so frustrating. I've seen much less called flagrants all season long. It's not so much that it is a flagrant, as it is that not calling it a flagrant is completely inconsistent with how the games have been officiated all year.
damn refs handing this game to duke by giving butler 14 ft's to duke 5 in the 2nd half. thomas should have called a timeout before that jump ball.
I can't stand Clark Kellogg. He's horrible. Almost bad enough to make me miss Billy Packer. I'm not even sure he's watching the game. He just Maddens it with obvious **** and platitudes. Not to mention his raging erection for Duke. Ugh.
not sure what in the hell singler was doing on that play. that's the most out of control i've seen him. duke again cannot get it over 6 points. and now it's back to 3 after butler takes an ugly shot but somehow gets it back.
team of destiny people. they give up an open layup down by 3 and the other team just blows it and then leaves their center wide open for an easy layup to get within 1. since duke is obviously not going to score here, it will all come down to what butler does. an offensive rebound, wild scramble and then a score with a few seconds left seems about right. and yeah, kellogg is annoying. i don't quite want packer back, though.
