YES! YES! YES! Butler to the Final Four in Indy!!! If only Hummel hadn't got hurt, Purdue probably would have made it too (IMO). That would have been off the charts.
I wonder if there's ever been an NCAA team that didn't hit a single 2-pt FG in a half of a game before. And to lead the game anyway is ridiculous!
Not to take anything away from Butler because they were the better team, but Clemente and Pullen tried to win that game by themselves. Not letting Curtis Kelly touch the ball hardly at all in the 2nd half is what cost them that game. Nobody on Butler could guard him at least in the first half; turned out the best defense on him was getting frozen out by his own guards, lol. I'll post more about this game later.
Kentucky is really not attacking the basket, the young kids aren't used to playing from behind. Cousins better step it up quick.
i just turned the game on a few minutes ago and read your post and all i've seen are about 5 easy layups since then. what the hell happened in the first half? it looks like they didn't even have a ft, just 8 3-pointers, until 2:50 to go. incredible. and wvu isn't even attempting to guard UK on the outside and UK still can't hit.
But they've never been a great shooting team. Their game is John Wall creating and Cousins/Patterson on the inside. West Virginia's zone is just screwing everything up for Kentucky. And on the offchance Cousins gets the ball, they just zerg him and Cousins hasnt shown that he can kick the ball back out. They also like to live off transition buckets, but West Virginia has done a good job slowing the game down.
they're 0 for 17! and it's not like it's just one or two guys having really bad nights, 7 different guys have tried, wide open and all missed. it's hard to be that bad. even a bad night would be 3-17. zones always work well if the other team can't hit an open jumper. oh, and UK actually shot better from 3 than WVU this season (.344 to .333).
i know everyone loves the all the upsets in this tournament, but the lack of really good teams sucks and doesn't even make upsets all that exciting. two #1 seeds are already out and another looks like it's about to be and watching the games it didn't even seem even remotely feel like david vs goliath. just david vs a slightly better david. get some good teams college ball!
Except for their PG, West Virginia is smack dab in the middle of a major choke job. But UK is flubbing their chance to chop the lead. If UK finds itself, this game will be tied in 2 minutes.
uk would have to pretend they've seen a curl screen or that they know how to hit an open jumper for that to happen.
Give them credit. WVU's defense has been spot on. Yes, Kentucky cant make a damn 3, but they cant do anything in the interior either. WVU's players are all over the place.
i didn't see the first half, but i'm not sure what you mean. uk is not doing anything on the interior because wvu has their whole team down there. kentucky has hardly had a defender within 5 feet of them on most of their 3's. like i said, every zone looks awesome if the other team misses wide open shots. and dumb foul by kentucky, only 3 seconds short of a 10 second violation.
