Can you post a video of yourself doing that move? I went out into the driveway and I can't figure out how to get my second dribble with the spin to line up perpendicularly with the basket. I start from outside the lane and when I spin I find myself still outside the lane. I think I must be stupid because you make it sound so easy.

Yeah, you must be stupid then.

I'm going to agree with clutch and others that Hakeem's move was not simple.

Simple means joey dorsey could do it.

Do you have a video of Duncan hitting a fadeaway after spinning away from the defender? All the videos I can find have Duncan squarely in front of his man after the spin move. His method of separation seems to be 'have longer arms'. It works, but not as consistently as Hakeem's moves. It seems like his post moves came out of a book. Zero creativity compared to McHale, Bird or Hakeem.

Can you prove that? It will require a video of you doing that move. I'm willing to pay cash or paypal.

    Clutch,

So you make this fantastic post about Hakeem's return to Africa and you get:

    Draft jordan instead
    And
His move is so simple anyone could do it

Non beleivers. Rudy t was right.

No because you'd be blind to whatever you see. In yalls eyes nothing will ever be as good as anything Hakeem does.

I'm right there with you if you're comparing him to other 50 year old retired players.

And I'll give you that he does it prettier than probably most guys in the league, he still has that grace about him. And I'm still even willing to say that he can do a lot of post moves (today, at 52) that NBA big men can't do, but this particular one does not fit into that category.

So, you're telling me that you can't do it and you're just trying to sound cool by telling people it's easy?

You're one of a kind Tinman... In a way I kind of respect you for it. In more ways I don't, but we take what we can get...

You do realize this is a spin move to a step back jumper. I wouldn't call this a classic fade away.

Few players fade on their jump shot. Most players are taught to square up and go vertical. Allen Iverson and Kobe are good examples of players that have the fade in their arsenal. In general though a fade away is not the best shot and nearly all coaches would disapprove taking it.

The most unstoppable player who has ever done a fade is Hakeem just due to the way his body is built and the way he sets up his defender. LMA, Griffin, and Dirk have fading action on their shot but it's not to the level of Hakeem. I've seen 3 players lunge at Hakeem's shot in his prime and they couldn't get to it. LMA and Dirk don't have enough shake in their game to elude 3 defenders. Griffin is good but he doesn't have Hakeem's length and hard-to-block shooting motion.
