I disagree with you about that from back in 2008. He was projected from only his rebounding and defense, but had to develop offensively because he was going to have to play the 4 in the NBA because he was 6'7/6'8. Young's minutes will certainly matter where he goes, but I wouldn't expect him to play all that much. But he can give 10-15 minutes in a backup role. He just doesn't have much more potential beyond being a solid backup. Hopefully we get him undrafted.
I think we disagree on the definition. I would describe NBA ready as being ready to play in the NBA in a rotation. 10-15 minutes and being a backup. Maybe 20 for a bad team. Maybe simply a miscommunication of definition. Save the top few picks, very few rookies are going to play more than 20-25 minutes, even on bad teams. I guess your definition of NBA ready is a starter/playing 25+ minutes?

For reference, 4 rookies played more than 25 mpg last year. Only 10 (total, including the 4) played more than 20 mpg.

Yea both of them are and that's all that matters at this point because they are on teams that have scorers... Neither one of them have to be KD. NYC already has Hardaway, Early, Jose, and Melo if he comes back. They need defense and Alphabet is more equipped defensively to try to guard guys like LeBron, George, etc than Shumpert is. Can't always look at these youngsters as stars when truthfully there's not many stars in the NBA.
The hype they are getting are what stars and up and comers generally get. The hype was stupidly high for Giannis early on in the NBA season. Thankfully, its dulled down a bit.
In all fairness- Giannis has some potential and is an interesting prospect. I think his brother won't amount too much and is simply caught up in the hype of Giannis. If there's such a thing as "bubbles" (like in economics) in the NBA market- then picking quick, 6'8" tweeners is one. I think we're going to see more prospects build on that KD model in the near future but few will pan out.
I think there's a good chance the Rockets sign a couple of these top UFAs. We are going to need depth and for an undrafted rookie, going to a star-studded team is perfect for sticking in the league as a role player.
