I think its a mixture of factors. They want more for the picks so that in case DM got another gem it wouldn't look as bad. DM though doesn't do trades just to do trades, once other teams asked for more than $$$ he hung up the phone. I guess for him the 2nd pick isn't worth giving up an asset besides $$$.
They dont fear morey, maybe they dont like him like pritchard. Maybe they think he's like thorn and overvalue what he's giving up. Presti has a rep of a deal maker and so is petrie. The only gm feared is always associated with the lakers.
I was hoping to wake up and find that a late trade had been made. So only getting Patterson wasn't a dream.
That makes more sense. According to Sheridan from ESPN, teams were asking minimum for 1.5M for 2nd round picks
I think one of the best things that happened on draft night for Houston was Chicago moving Hinrich. Chi-town can now sign 2 max Free agents, and Miami can sign 3. I don't see how Lebron is not going to one of these two teams (assuming he leaves Cleveland). Our two first rounders from the Knicks just got more valuable because the chances of the knicks landing a franchise-altering free agent just got slimmer, and the eastern conference is likely to be more competitive (look at all the east coast teams with free agent cap space: the Wiz, nets, cavs, knicks, heat, bulls). Smart move on Morey's part to hold on to those picks. With Jefferies expiring contract, and all the draft picks we have, a sign and trade for an impact FA this summer, or a trade deadline move to put us over the top are both very realistic scenarios. As long as we can find a strong backup for Yao in addition to Hill (Haywood), I would have no problem keeping Scola and going into the season with Scola, Patterson, and Hayes. Scola and Hayes never seem to get injured anyway.
I don't see Les Alexander balking at paying the max for a 2nd round pick if Morey thinks the guy is worth it.
Bucks made out with a king's ransom in this draft. Picking up Sanders at #15 was a steal. They picked up a player that fills a valuable need for them in the frontcourt where it's basically just Bogut. Hobson and Jordan are great pickups as well, not so sure about Gallon. The Kings didn't do so bad either, Hassan Whiteside in the second round! Cousins may be a bit of a loser with an apparent weight problem, should have taken Aminu. And how bout those Knicks? lmao x 1,000,000.

In his press conference, Morey said the teams wanted pick(s) or other assets in addition to money. So likely that what held up the discussions. From previous draft day trades, I think the Rockets have pretty much traded all their 2nd rounders in the foreseeable future. So they lack the assets to get these picks.
What was the T-Wolves thinking trading the 16th pick with a underrated player for Webster? IF they had drafted James Anderson instead, he would of been the better player them Webster. I was hoping they would pick Anderson or the Celtics so the Spurs wouldn't be able to draft him. Now they have thier team of the future. Damn Wolves, mess up everything.
I'm kind of pissed at the Kings because they got the guy that we wanted. But with them drafting red flag guys, hopefully it explodes in their face and they become the Jail Blazers V2 and we won't have to worry about fighting for a playoff spot with them.
